Job Posting: COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST Faith Lutheran Church is looking for highly skilled Communications Specialist to join our staff. This position is a 20 hour/week position and the hours would be Monday, Wednesday & Thursday 12:30 PM -4:30 PM, Tuesday & Friday 9 AM – 1 PM. The Communications Specialist is responsible for managing the communications of Faith Lutheran Church, ensuring high quality communications through a variety of channels. Essential Functions  Gather information and leads o Leverage available tools (calendar, bulletin, news paper, etc) to generate content ideas for publication o Coordinate with the Office Coordinator and the Program Coordinator to ensure timely communication of events and notices o Recommend optimal media for new content o Review and prioritize ideas for new content with staff o Support strong communication within the organization by assisting in determining which roles need to be informed and provide support for program and pastoral staff in generating timely communication o Provide status and confirm priorities with supervisor on a regular schedule  Create copy o Lead and collaborate with the creative team that develops the Focus on Faith magazine - quarterly o Submit for review recommended updates the church Web Site - weekly o Develop copy for the E-News to the congregation and submit for review - weekly o Aggregate and organize content for mass emailed communications to the congregation, and submit for review – ad hoc o Create and post appropriate content to Social Media tools approved by the Sr Pastor. Timely postings regarding church events, both in advance of and following events – ad hoc o Gather current information for display on the internal building display monitors - weekly  Publish copy appropriately using in-house and online tools  Serve as a volunteer coordinator within the Communication function  Other office functions  Perform receptionist and office greeter activities as needed.  Set a positive and energetic tone for the communications ministry of the church so that it is productive and supportive for volunteers and staff members.  Participate periodically in regular staff meetings and Communications Committee meetings. Minimum Qualifications  Excellent design skills with an advanced sense of branding, design/layout and color.  Three years experience in administrative support role  Advanced proficiency with various programs of Microsoft Office and design/publishing software.  Previous experience in web site and social media management  Excellent interpersonal skills.  Degree or Certificate in Communications, Design or a related field desirable  Ability to move quickly between multiple projects while continually raising the bar on creative assignments.  Acceptable background checks as determined by Faith Lutheran Church Physical Requirements  Able to move about freely in a single-level facility  Able to lift at least 50 pounds
