Reports to: Dean of Dance Job Description: This faculty teaches dance courses in a professionally-focused curriculum for NWSA high school and BFA college degree programs. Duties & Responsibilities:
Teaches dance courses for both NWSA high school and college programs to include all levels of modern and other related areas such as composition, history and repertory Choreographs and/or stages and serves as rehearsal director for dance works for the department Evaluates and advises students Participates in departmental, campus and college affairs Participates in curriculum development and revision Participates in student recruitment Participates in a variety of departmental, campus and college-wide programs, activities and committees Participates in all auditions, juries, conferences and other related activities Attends performances Attends state and other national conferences Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Master’s Degree in Dance or a Master’s Degree and 18 graduate semester hours in Dance All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution Familiarity with and use of collaborative learning techniques and student-centered methods of instruction Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills Flexibility to work a flexible schedule to accommodate juries. advisement , recruitment, performances and other departmental and school activities Ability to work well with students, faculty, staff and the community Ability to work in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment Doctoral stipend is awarded in addition to base salary, as applicable Start date for this Faculty position will be August 18, 2016
Preferences:
Six (6) years of professional performing experience with a prominent dance company/companies Four (4) years of teaching experience at high school, college or professional levels of dance Preference will be given to applicants with College level teaching experience Demonstrated effective use of active learning techniques
