                                                               John  C.  Esquivel   Opportunities along the U.S. – Mexico border are as vast as its landscape. Navigating the complex border requires a unique understanding and awareness of the border’s dynamics.

Mr.   John   C.   Esquivel   is   a   former   Chief   Executive   of   the   U.S.   Border   Patrol   Sector   in   Laredo,  Texas,  with  20+  years  of  progressive  leadership  in  the  U.S.  Department  of  Justice   (DOJ),   U.S.   Department   of   Homeland   Security   (DHS),   U.S.   Customs   and   Border   Protection   (CBP),   and   U.S.   Border   Patrol.     Mr.   Esquivel   is   a   founding   member   of   the   U.S.   Department   of   Homeland   Security   and  was   one   of   only   twenty   Chiefs   in   U.S.   Customs   and   Border   Protection   responsible   for   preventing   the   illegal   entry   of   persons   and   contraband   between   official   U.S.   ports   of   entry.       He   led   one   of   the   Nation’s   largest   and   busiest  U.S.  Border  Patrol  sectors  during  a  period  of  historic  resource  growth  followed   by   unprecedented   budget   cuts,   sequestration,   U.S.   government   shutdown,   and   continual   wide-­‐spread   domestic   and   international   interest   in   U.S.   immigration   policy,   immigration  reform  and  border  security.         He   was   appointed   as   a   subject-­‐matter-­‐expert   to   select   teams   comprised   of   U.S.   –   Mexico   and   U.S.   –   Canada   executives   that   worked   collaboratively   to   increase   border   security,   open   lines   of   communication,   improve   working   relationships   and   intelligence   sharing,  and  facilitate  legitimate  trade  and  travel.    Mr.  Esquivel  established  and  chaired   a   delegation   of   Border   Patrol   Chiefs   and   Mexico   Consuls   General   based   along   the   U.S.  –   Mexico  border  to  address  and  resolve  immigration,  customs,  trade,  transportation  and   other  critical  issues.      He  constructed  a  state-­‐of-­‐the-­‐art  intelligence  center  fully  staffed   by   local,   state   and   federal   agency   partners   who   collect,   analyze   and   share   intelligence   with   over   200   law   enforcement   organizations   in   South   Texas   to   target   transnational   criminal   organizations.     He   also   established   the   first   conference   for   law   enforcement   and   energy   sector   executives   to   address   issues   of   mutual   concern.   He   is   an   active   member  of  the  Energy  Security  Council.     His   in-­‐depth   experience,   situational   awareness   of   the   southern   border,   keen   understanding  of  border  dynamics,  and  extensive  command  experience  (field,  regional   and  headquarters)  solving  some  of  the  most  complex  challenges  along  the     U.S.  –  Mexico  border  makes  him  a  recognized  expert  in  border  security.
