Minister Kenneth Hoschouer started “The Visitor” newsletter nearly seventy years ago as a way for our church to find its way into our people’s homes during the week, helping them maintain a strong connection with our congregation. After experiencing financial setbacks of various kinds last spring, our leadership decided to take a break from “The Visitor” until we found ourselves on a more stable financial footing. But we’ve noticed some things slipping through the cracks. People haven’t seemed to be as informed as they should be about our church activities and ministry effort. After re-evaluating the communication effort of our congregation, our leaders have decided that it’s time to produce a monthly newsletter, including our monthly calendar and serve schedule. We’ve designed this new-and-hopefully-improved “Visitor” in such a way that you may hang both pages on your refrigerator, or wherever you post important info in your home. In this way, we hope to continue your strong connection with our congregation and fulfill the original purpose for “The Visitor.” Notice that our calendar includes birthdays and anniversaries, enabling us to celebrate these events with you. (By the way, if we have missed your birthday or anniversary on our calendar, please let us know so we can update our info. Thanks!) Notice also on September 18 we have a deadline for our October monthly Visitor. If you have news-worthy info to include in next month’s “Visitor,” please let us know by noon on that date. Examples of news-worthy info include (but are not limited to) prayer requests, ministry events, and church-wide thank you notes. Our monthly Visitor is a work in progress, and we look to improve our quality as time goes on. We appreciate your input on how to make this publication the best it can possibly be for you and your family. Thank you for being a part of our congregation, and we look forward to connecting with you for another seventy years. Happy reading!
