Jolly Brollies Please read through the pattern before you begin, assuming a ¼” seam allowance and a fabric width (WOF) of 42”. I would always recommend making a test block

The innovative technique for piecing the Brollies was created by Joanna Figueroa of Fig Tree & Co. (figtreequilts.com) and is shown with her kind permission. It can be found in her Lollipops & Papillon patterns, as well as Issue 16 of Fresh Vintage, which is where I first saw it. CUTTING: Please note: the number of pieces required for the Baby Quilt are shown first, with the numbers required for the Large Quilt shown in brackets {x}. If you are using a Dresden ruler, refer to your instructions when cutting pieces marked* 1. Choose 5 {6} of your darkest Jelly Roll strips and cut 6 2½” x 4½” pieces (for the handles) and 6 2½” squares (for the umbrella tips). 2. Choose 13 {18} of the brighter Jelly Roll strips for the central and outer panels of your Brollies and cut 6 2½” x 6” pieces* (2 sets of 3) and keep the remainder for scrappy posts. 3. Choose 9 {12} of the lighter Jelly Roll strips for the two remaining Brolly panels and cut 6 2½” x 6” pieces* (3 sets of 2) and keep the remainder for scrappy posts.
5. From the sashing fabric cut 10 {17} 2½” strips and sub-cut into 5 2½” x 7½” strips. 6. From the border fabric cut 6 4½” strips. 7. From the binding fabric cut 5 {7} 2½” strips.
