Am I in the place of God?  You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. Genesis 50: 19-20 Connect • When is a time you felt like you didn’t fit in? Grow 1. Review the story of Joseph in Genesis 37-50. Take turns telling the parts of the story you know. 2. What makes Joseph different from his brothers? 3. How and why is Joseph rejected by his brothers? 4. How is God with Joseph in this rejection? What does this tell you about God? 5. A cycle of rejection and blessing repeats in Joseph’s life. How does this cycle prepare him for greater things? 6. What qualities does Joseph exhibit that allow God to show his faithfulness? 7. What were some of the ways in which Jesus was despised and rejected? 8. What purpose was God able to fulfill through Christ being rejected? 9. How can we have the mind of Joseph and Christ? What would that look like? How would that help to serve God’s purpose? Honor Father God, the Old Testament whispers the story of Jesus. You are able to fulfill your purposes even when we are despised and rejected. As we search the scriptures, allow us to see the glory and wonder of how Christ is in all things.
