There is a reciprocal relationship between engagement and wellbeing and Joseph Whitmire is a testimony to just that. Not only does Joseph’s team score exceptionally high year after year on the Gallup Engagement Survey but this year he is also being recognized with the Stutts Leadership Award.
A leader is defined as someone who guides and inspires others. When you think of a strong leader, other qualities like motivational, honest, fair, and supportive come to mind. These are all words that have been used to describe Mr. Joseph Whitmire, the Administrative Director of Materials Management. In 2010, Joseph Whitmire joined Bon Secours as the Materials Management Coordinator at DePaul Medical Center in Hampton Roads. Coming from a decorated military career, it wasn’t long before Joseph moved up the ranks at Bon Secours as well. Joseph credits his military background for instilling in him the importance of his own physical well-being, and the well-being of his team as a whole. When Employee Wellness called for nominations for the annual Stutts Leadership Award, Joseph’s nomination immediately stood out as a top contender. His team nominated him for not only supporting their physical well-being, but their mental and social well-being also. They explained that he encourages physical activity breaks throughout the work day and beyond. The team also expressed appreciation for the way Joseph enforces safety in their work environments, and keeps them aware of opportunities to enhance their knowledge of stress management, time management, and work/life balance. With actions like these, it’s no wonder that Joseph’s team also ranks with some of the highest engagement scores each year as well! Please join us in congratulating Joseph for winning the 2018 Stutts Leadership Award. Thank you Joseph for being good help in all that you do.
