Jr. Wahawk Baseball Program
Jr. Wahawk Baseball Program Purpose:
To develop fundamental baseball skills in future West High baseball players so they are prepared to compete with
some of the best baseball teams in the state at the high school level. As a member of the Jr. Wahawk Baseball Program, your son will have access to the following: Instruction on baseball fundamentals from West High coaches, former coaches, players, former players, as well as Jr. Wahawk coaches Scheduled times to practice in the West High indoor hitting facility throughout the entire year, as well as practices on the West High baseball field during the summer Participate in approximately 7 traveling tournaments per summer with the Jr. Wahawk team Possibly playing in a USSSA league with area teams
Who:
Children from the age of 9 to 14 are able to participate.
When and Where: We will have tryouts for all age level teams on Sunday, September 29th at the West High Baseball Field. Sunday, September 29th 12:00 – 1:30 pm or 2:00 – 3:30 pm
If neither of these times work, please contact Jeff Conrey at (319) 404-0495 or email [email protected] to schedule an individual workout.
The tryouts will be held at the West High baseball field. Please plan to arrive at the baseball field at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the tryout to register and warm up. Players who attend the tryout should bring their glove, a bat, wear baseball pants, a tshirt or long sleeved shirt, baseball shoes, and a hat.
Cost: The cost to attend the tryout will be $10 which can be turned in the day of the tryout.
If your child makes one of the Jr.
Wahawk teams, there will be a fee of $250.00 which covers the cost of a uniform, helmet and tournament entry fees. Fundraising opportunities will be available to assist with this cost if needed.
