“All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name”

*THE CALL TO WORSHIP (by Lavon Baylor, Taught by Love) Leader: God calls us from the valley of dry bones. Come, listen for a word from our God. People: We hear God calling us in a far distant voice. We had nearly forgotten God’s care for us. Leader: The Spirit breathes life into our dry bones. God offers hope when we have lost our way. People: Our souls wait for the refreshment God offers. Our spirits are filled with great expectation. Leader: Christ came as a light to all the world. Christ comes among us today to light our way. People: We hear the teacher calling for us. Christ unbinds us that we may see and believe. *THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE NO. 64 Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty! Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee. Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty, God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM (10:00) Congregational Response: With God’s help we will so order our lives after the example of Christ, that these children, surrounded by steadfast love, may be established in the faith, and confirmed and strengthened in the way that leads to life eternal. Amen. THE RESPONSE (All Singing) I was there to hear your borning cry, I’ll be there when you are old. I rejoiced the day you were baptized, to see your life unfold. THE SOLO

*** THE CALL TO PRAYER THE UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION (John Indermark, ministrymatters.com) Forgive us, O God, when we see the world through rose-colored glasses rather than as it really is, much less the way you seek it to be. Forgive us, Holy One, when we forsake lively and risky faith calling us to be agents of change in our world for the bland conviction that all will be well. Renew us with your grace and ground us with your Spirit, that we might be empowered to live, in word and deed, as testimonies to the power of your love over the grave. In Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen. THE SILENT PRAYER THE WORDS OF GRACE THE LORD’S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. THE OFFERING OF OUR TITHES AND GIFTS THE OFFERTORY
