Jeff Jones, Retired Detroit Tigers Pitching Coach Jones has over 30 years of experience in professional baseball, including over 20 as a pitching coach in the Detroit Tigers organization. Jones has been a big part of bringing Cy Young and MVP awards to Detroit. Detroit Tigers Special Guests Meet and learn from Detroit Tigers players. Participating Tigers will be announced as camp dates approach. Tigers are scheduled to appear on all three days. Camp Staff In addition to Jeff Jones, the Wayne State coaching staff, current and former NCAA student-athletes, and select high school coaches will participate in all sessions. CAMP DESCRIPTION Day One and Two (Position Player Camp) These two days will provide an organized station and drill work system featuring a fundamental approach to all aspects of the game of baseball. Campers will learn about infield play, outfield play, base running, bunting and hitting, as well as mental game development. Campers will be learning the same drills and techniques taught by Coach Ryan Kelley to Wayne State players. Day Three (Pitcher and Catcher Specific) This camp will be pitcher and catcher specific. The camp will focus on the fundamentals of these two crucial positions as well as the mental side of the game. Included in camp instruction will be mechanical drill work, defending the position, throwing drills and recovery, and shoulder stability exercises. The catching camp will focus on receiving, blocking, footwork, stances, throwing, pitcher and catcher relationship strategies, and physical development concepts.

DAY TWO: Tuesday, July 25th 8:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. – Check-in at WSU Athletics 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. – Comerica Park tour* 11:00 a.m - 11:30 a.m. – Towers Café for lunch* 12:00 p.m. - 12:45 p.m. – Tigers talk and autographs 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. – Camp 4:45 p.m. - 5:15 p.m. – Parents pick up from WSU

(Transportation Provided) This is a non-refundable camp. Registration cancellations will be credited toward a future WSU Baseball Camp.
