Shirley Lindquist, 80, of Eau Claire passed away peacefully Sunday, November 6, 2016 at her niece’s home in Eastover, NC with her family at her side. Shirley was born in Eau Claire on June 2, 1936 to Edward and Stella Lindquist. She attended St. Patrick’s grade school and graduated from Regis High School in 1954. She attended the Eau Claire Vocational School prior to her employment with Northern States Power Company. Her career with NSP began in the "Stores" Department and later she transferred to the Accounting Department. Shirley served as the head cashier, retiring in 1991 after 37 years. Shirley was a member of Sacred Heart-St. Patrick’s Parish her entire life and volunteered for the parish. Shirley's hobbies included golfing, biking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Her passion for travel included touring all seven continents. Shirley visited over 100 hundred countries, enjoying the local culture, cuisine and customs. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Stella Lindquist, brother in-law (Ret) Col Jerome J. (Jerry) Wahl and significant friends, Bill Metz and Clayton Steinmetz. She is survived by her loving sister Jean Wahl of Hope Mills, NC, five nephews and one niece: Steven (Gina) Wahl of Richmond, VA, Michael (Judy) Wahl of Wapella, IL, Gregory (Debbie) Wahl of Antoine, AR, Mark (Regina) Wahl of Matthews, NC, Julie (Tony) McLamb of Eastover, NC and Dr. Joseph (Celia) Wahl of Whispering Pines, NC, and many great nieces and nephews. Shirley was touched by many friends throughout her life time including Tom Derouin and the family of the late Bill Metz.
