JUNIOR MANAGERS REPORT 2012 My first year in the role has had its ups and downs. Looking back at the summer weather and the unavailability of my dad at matches, most teams have had a successful season. We had a good start to the year with around 40 juniors attending Haltemprice nights on a Sunday and a regular turn out of coaches.

During the season we arranged nearly 100 games (a record) with around a half of them being lost to the weather. Sundays saw us turn out two U9 teams of eight which were very successfully run by Roger Wilson, Thomas Hales and Alastair Markham winning 20 of their 25 matches. The U11 and U13A teams went unbeaten throughout their league season with the U11’s winning the cup in their last match on a damp evening at Welton. Thanks goes to David Price and all the families who helped run the teams in my dad’s absence. The U13B and U15 teams were both affected by the weather and unfortunately only played a small number of games. Hopefully this will not be the case in 2013. The U17’s though under Jack Storey had a great season which ended with them winning the U17 cup v Yapham at Beverley after defeating a very strong Fenner side in the semi final thanks to a marvellous 50 from Chris Clark. When we weren’t rain affected, nets at Zingari on a Tuesday and Swanland on a Friday went reasonably well and thanks goes to all the coaches and helpers who turned out on those nights and to the managers of the individual teams throughout the season. Thanks also to Tomo and Barry for preparing the pitches we played on. Finally a big thanks must go to my dad who although was not at matches did a massive amount of work on his computer at home, spending hours organising all the teams and keeping you all up to date with what was happening. He certainly was missed, but will be with us all again in 2013. Hope you all enjoy the presentation night and look forward to seeing you all in 2013 both at nets and on the cricket field. MATT BUNN (BUNNY).

U9 SEASON REPORT After my first season of running a team I can truly say it has been most enjoyable. To see the players at net practice and then in matches has been most satisfying. The effort put in at net practice was rewarded with good performances on the pitch. We started the season off running two teams but due to one reason or another finished with one team. In this standard of cricket it was most gratifying to see the players applying themselves in matches whether they were bowling or batting and their enthusiasm on the pitch was infectious and a delight to watch. It was not easy for those players who were experiencing match play for the first time to come to terms with the needs of the game but they coped extremely well and as the season progressed they learnt quickly as I left them alone to make their own decisions and only suggested solutions. I am greatly looking forward to net practice and next season when we can build on the work we have done this season and progress further. ROGER WILSON.

U11 SEASONS REPORT Given the poor weather and the inevitable gaps between the matches we played and the unavailability of key players at times, the U11’s still had an outstanding season being undefeated. Even when some matches looked as though they maybe going away from them, the U11’s dug in and produced either a batting or bowling / fielding performance to turn things around and get themselves a win. It was in the Cup Final on a drizzly July evening at Welton where we showed this determination against a very competent Driffield side. Despite having two key players absent we all produced a performance and result that excited the team, myself and the parents. It is unlikely that many of them will forget that for some time – it was almost dark when the Cup was presented to our captain Charlie Rawlins, and then suddenly it was all lit up with their joy and multiple flashes from parent’s cameras and mobile phone cameras. I’ve enjoyed the challenge of assisting with the success of the U11’s this season in Steve Bunn’s absence and I hope I haven’t upset too many parents with my occasional comments to the various players from the boundary: I think most of the players know why. They still need to improve their concentration when fielding and improve their running between the wicket, but this will all come in the next few years. Like me they all want to enjoy their cricket and feel that great sense of achievement when winning a match – especially when it’s back to school the next day. GOOD LUCK to those players moving up to the U13’s; it’s been good knowing you but I’m sure that in 2013 the Zingari U11’s will continue to be a force to be reckoned with, as some of this years U9’s and 10’s emerge to take their place. Finally a BIG THANK YOU to all the parents/ grandparents etc who have helped me, as in scoring, especially the Riley family. DAVID PRICE. Assistant Manager.

U13 A SEASON REPORT The U13A team had a very successful season winning all their league matches. Unfortunately they had to concede their cup match due to many players being unavailable due to exams. The team was very well led on the field by Lewis Shipp who produced several marvellous catches throughout the season. In each game certain individuals came to the fore with exceptional batting or bowling. There was an excellent spirit in the team and all looks good for 2013 when many of them will move up to the U15 team. Thanks to all the players who played on occasions for either the U15 or U17 team, not forgetting those who played senior cricket for our 3rd team on a weekend. Thanks finally go to all the parents, helpers who ran the team in my absence. Without you matches would not have been played. Look forward to seeing you all again next year. STEVE BUNN.

The U13B SEASON REPORT The U13B team were unfortunately hit by the weather and only played five games winning three of them. Their two losses came against strong teams from Driffield and Sutton who should have been in the A league. Thanks to Mat Jackson for captaining the team. Once again thanks to all concerned who helped run the team in my absence. Many of our B team will still be able to play U13 cricket next year so it looks good for 2013. STEVE BUNN.

U15 SEASON REPORT The weather in 2012 made only five matches possible for our U15’s. We had a very young team this year in the main but they gave 100% effort in every game. Unfortunately exams caused major players to be unavailable in certain games and like the U13 team had to concede our cup fixture as a result. Apologies go to the net sessions which were not satisfactory. However hopefully this issue will be sorted next year. Thanks to the U13’s who made themselves available when we were short and to all those people who helped me out throughout the season. Next year once again many of the talented U13’s will be moving up and so with our U14’s from this year will form a strong team in 2013. Hopefully many will put their names forward to play senior cricket for our 3rd team on a weekend. MATT BUNN

MATCH REPORT V TOURING TEAM 6/8/12. With many of our U-15’s unavailable we produced a team ranging from 11 to 15 year olds to play a strong touring team from the North East in a 35 over match on the afternoon of the 6th August. In a thoroughly entertaining game we batted first and scored 163 – 6 with an outstanding display of batting from our captain George Rawlins who scored 66. George was ably backed up by 12 year old Adam Palmer scoring 19, Jordan Weatherill scoring 14 and Ben Thompson and Thomas Elstone weighing in with 12 each. When the opposition batted we had them wobbling with 9 wickets down only for their captain to score a fine 57 not out , taking them to a winning score of 164 – 9 with a few overs to spare. Lewis Shipp and Ben Thompson took 2 wickets each and a wicket each for George Rawlins, Adam Palmer, Josh Leeman and Finlay Ulrick made it a fine and pleasant afternoon. Lunch was provided in the clubhouse for both teams and thanks go to the Steward and his staff and to Tomo for preparing the pitch.
