Junior Team Tennis Committee July 2016, Annual Meeting Waco, Texas
1. Welcome 2. Roll Call 3. Protocol 4. Committee Guidelines - Junior Team Tennis Committee – works to grow and develop the Jr. Team Tennis (JTT) program by supporting local Area League Coordinators, developing new leagues and initiatives, hosting the Section-wide Championships, and creating, revising, and enforcing the rules by which JTT operates. 5. Progress Report/Action since last meeting 6. Strategic Plan review 7. Spring Sectionals: Tyler, TX a. 54 teams from 13 areas. Survey results are attached b. We did have a few concerns with parent behavior. Possible solutions: i. Posting Spectator Policy and Player Oath at each site ii. Reviewing Player Oath and Spectator Policy at each site with the whole site before match play begins (only issue is if players have a bye first round) iii. When tennislink finalizes the communication tool we will be able to email registered participants before the tournament
with expectations of spectators, captains, and players at the sectional tournament. 8. JTT track vs. Championship track a. JTT Track format for 12U scoring – a lot of feedback requesting 6 game pro set vs. the two 4 game set with tie breaker in the place of a third set like it is set now. i. Proposal to have all divisions have 6 game pro-set as suggested format for the JTT Track season and have Sectional Tournament Committee set format for the Sectional Tournament based on number of teams attending. b. Proposal to have 12U Adv. move forward as co-ed instead of gender neutral. c. Survey results from ALCs about the split d. Timeline for 2017 Sectionals tournaments i. Fall 2017 set for Nov. 17 -19 at Newks ii. Spring and Summer sectionals 9. 2017 Sectionals Bid form 10. Junior Ratings (NTRP) will start being used Spring 2017 a. National benchmark will be 3.5 for Advanced b. Data from Texas’ Spring and Summer seasons attached. Would we like to set a benchmark for Intermediate divisions? 11. Goals for 2016 a. Dashboard numbers 12.Adjournment
