Justiss Elementary holds Veterans Day Salute to the Troops program Justiss students and staff invite friends and family members who have served in the military to be honored at the Veterans Day program each year. The Paris Boy Scouts Troop #2 presented and retired the colors. Everyone joined in the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence. Second grader Amari Lawrence sang the national anthem. Each veteran was introduced and Paris High School trumpeter Thomas Zimmerman played Taps in honor of deceased veterans. The keynote speaker was Troop #2 Pack Leader Mike Taylor who discussed the importance of the stars and stripes on the American flag. Taylor and Pack #2 also taught the students how to properly fold the flag and the special meaning of each of the 13 folds. The students sang multiple songs, and students, leaders, and teachers at Justiss Elementary gave thanks to all of those who have served our nation. A special brunch was sponsored by the Justiss Student Council in honor of the veterans following the program.
