Happy New Year from the women of Kappa Delta! We have had quite the year here at the Alpha Delta chapter from Confidence Week to deferred Recruitment- our sisters have excelled and grown. -Ellen Kanavos, Vice-President of Public Relations

Sisters Leya Gouto (PC ’15), Allie Baldassaro (PC ’13), Laura Oxford (PC’12)

In the spring of 2016, Alpha Delta hosted Mother’s Weekend, which consisted of a wonderful brunch at which sisters and their mothers met and enjoyed each other’s company. Additionally, local restaurants and shops welcomed the mother/daughter duos throughout the weekend. A couple weeks later, our chapter hosted Confidence Week which took over Rhodes’ campus with a pinwheel garden in Palmer Quad, the “Caught You Being Confident” cards, the “You Make Me Smile” balloon campaign, and the benefit concert at SAE. All of these events were successful and brought the Confidence Coalition out in everyone with all the proceeds benefitting Prevent Child Abuse America, one of Kappa Delta’s philanthropies.

After arriving back in the fall, Alpha Delta celebrated International Women’s Friendship Month, September, by hosting a movie night for all Panhellenic women, a self-defense course for all Rhodes women which was led by Gillian Wenhold (PC’14), and a photo booth for all in the Rat during lunch hours. Not to mention, on September 16th, Kappa Delta hosted All-Sing, our annual Shamrock event, over Parent’s Weekend, which raised over $18,000, the most we have ever raised for Prevent Child Abuse America and Prevent Child Abuse Tennessee.

In November, our chapter celebrated International Girls Day with over a thousand Girl Scouts at the convention center. Alpha Delta had a booth at which we assisted the Girl Scouts make dream catchers and discuss what they wanted to do when they were older. It was truly inspiring to hear their excitement about going to school and wanting to take the world by storm.

Following a wonderful Spring Recruitment this month, we are so lucky to have gained over thirty-five new sisters who we already love so much!

October

PC ’13, ’14, ’15, and ‘16 on Preference Night 2017

In October, our chapter celebrated Founder’s Day at Kappa Delta National Headquarters, which is conveniently located in our very own Memphis, Tennessee, and we toured the new museum they have opened there.

The Alpha Delta Chapter of Kappa Delta is proud to present our Spring 2017 Pledge Class! Alisha Patel (PC ’13) helping Girl Scouts make dream catchers.

December

Traci Strickland, Hannah Rose Adams (PC ’14), Sarah Ryan (PC ’14), Katie Brewster (PC ’14), Victoria Norris (PC ’14), Olivia Gacka (PC ’13), Carolyn Dishuck (PC ’13), Sammie Fetzer (PC ’13), Jesse Robinson (PC ’14), and Merit Pinker (PC ’15) with the National Kappa Delta Council.

In December, amidst all the stress and chaos of finals and packing for the winter break, our chapter participated in the Panhellenic Study Break at which we ate Muddy’s cupcakes, drank hot chocolate, and celebrated ourselves and being Greek through the “I Am a Greek Woman” photo campaign. Such a great way to show Pan love and hangout with sisters!
