Keihin Carolina System Technology Achieves ISO 50001 Certification Second Company in North Carolina to Achieve International Energy Management Standard Tarboro, N.C. (February 4, 2014) – Keihin Carolina System Technology (KCST), an electronics manufacturer based in Tarboro, NC, is pleased to announce it has achieved ISO 50001 certification, a voluntary international energy management standard. KCST is the second company in North Carolina to achieve ISO 50001 certification. This third-party certification verifies KCST has implemented an energy management system and demonstrated continuous energy performance improvement within its operations. Achieving ISO 50001 is part of KCST’s commitment to sustainability and reducing its impact on the environment. “We are committed to continuous improvement in everything we do—whether it is reducing energy use or improving the safety and quality of our products,” said David Catt, Plant Manager at KCST. “We are proud to achieve this certification and be a leader in manufacturing in North Carolina. We will continue to look for ways to improve our operations, conserve resources, and educate our employees on how we can positively impact the environment.” In addition to this certification, KCST has also achieved ISO 14001, an environmental management system standard, and TS 16949, a quality management standard. The plant has also been recognized as a Green Factory by Honda and named an Environmental Steward by the NC Department of Environment and Natural Resources. KCST has focused on energy management for many years. In 2011, the company launched its formal sustainability program, Sustainable Keihin. The program is managed by a sustainability team that oversees company-wide goals and initiatives, including measuring and lowering greenhouse gas emissions from facility operations. This certification is one of many steps the company has taken to pursue its environmental sustainability goals.
