ow do you even rank how offensive and gross Katie Hopkins’ tweets are? We don’t know any more, but we’d put her comments about Kelly Clarkson pretty high up there. So much so, that we decided to ask Kelly what she thought about it. Just one problem: she had no idea who Katie was. Which made us love her even more. To recap, when Kelly appeared on Graham Norton earlier this month, vile Katie tweeted, “Jesus, what happened to Kelly Clarkson? Did she eat all of her backing singers? Happily I have widescreen.” She continued, “Darling, if you had a baby a year ago, that is not baby weight. It is fat. Quit calling it cute names to make yourself feel better.” When we asked her what she made of it, Kelly – who gave birth to daughter River Rose in June

2014 – told us, “I don’t have a clue what you’re talking about. Someone tweeted something about me?” After having to explain what Katie had written (and who the hell she was), Kelly, incredibly, laughed, “Oh, and she’s tweeted something nasty about me? That’s because she doesn’t know me. I’m awesome! It doesn’t bother me. It’s a free world – say what you will.” Kelly, 32, has spoken openly about her weight struggles. In 2007, she revealed she’d suffered from bulimia at high school. She added, “I’m definitely thicker than most people in the industry, but not in real life. When you’re on the red carpet with people who weigh 100lbs, hell yeah, I’m bigger than most of them. I’ve got a butt, I’m Greek [her great grandfather

was from Greece] — I can’t help that. And I think it’s good for people to see normal. I love food far too much.” Since then, Kelly’s weight has yoyo-ed. But since the birth of her child and marriage to Brandon Blackstock in 2013, she says her approach has changed. “I’ve just never cared what people think,” she tells us. “It’s more if I’m happy and I’m confident and feeling good, that’s always been my

thing. And more so now, since having a family – I don’t seek out any other acceptance.” And speaking about the advice she’ll give River and her stepdaughter Savannah, 13, she tells us, “You need to be happy with who you are and, Don’t full intmeiss our whoever that with Kell rview is, let your little week’s yh in next light shine.” eat ! ■ JEN CROTHERS
