GONDITION: The electroniccontrol usedto control all freezeroperationsmay not resumenormal cooling conditionsafter a power outageor low voltagecondition.Intermittentoperationcan be causedby moisturefreezingin the variableresistor(Cold Control) and causingan opencircuit to the electroniccontrol board.
GORREGTION: Replacethe ElectronicBoard locatedin compressorcompartmentareaand install a foam shieldover temperaturecontrol following the instructions containedin this flash. Note: Customers who havepurchased the above models will be sent letters instructing them to contact Sesrs to have the their freezer apgrsded. Retail floor stock is not effected by this rework.

Rework ProcedureFor ElectronicControls *Important: Before servicingthe product,unplug the unit from the electricaloutlet.Before touchingthe new electroniccontrol, the Technicianmust groundthemselvesto a metal surfaceby touchingany clean metal surfaceon the product. 1. Working from the back of the freezer,locateelectroniccontrol box. If the metal control box has a green " on the side of the control, it doesnot needto be replaced.Otherwise,removeall four wire harness ions. *Note: Groundwire will be removedlater.

Page3 of 5 2 . Using a small or stubby Phillips screwdriver,remove the two screwsthat attachthe electronic control box to the unit. The green ground wire can now be removed.
3. To reinstall the new electronic control box in the freezer, attachthe harnessand the ground wire to the electronic control box before fastening it to the freezer. String the wire harnessgoing to the door harnessthroughthe black cable-tieloop beforemaking this connection.The replacementcontrol will have the greendot locatedon the metal box.
4. The 14 cubic foot model will not usethe Sryrofoamcover,proceedto step13. 5 . Remove the cold control knob, using a flashli$ht, look through fhe evapof'dtoreov€r affiIe cotdcontrol mounting hole to determineif the cold control has a Styrofoamshieldaroundit, if it doesnot continueto the next step.If it hasthe Styrofoamshieldproceedto step# 13.
6 . Removethe shelvingand baskets. 7 . To move the baskettracks out of the way, leave the front screw installed but loose, then remove the center and rear screw. Rotate the baskettrack until it is facing forward. Do not remove the bottom three evaporatorcover screws.Remove the top four screws and the center two screwsfrom the evaporatorcover. Carefully rock the evaporatorcover from side to side to loosen the evaporatorgaskets/sealson the side of the panel. Pull the evaporatorcover forward to gain clearancebetween cover and the back wall of the freezer.

I l . Place alarge piece of permagumaroundthe wires making a sealto the foam shield.
t 2 .Reinstallthe evaporatorpanel,baskettracks,shelvingand baskets. 1 3 When . completed,plug unit into an outlet to test for proper operation.If unit doesnot start,recheckall the wiring connectionsand check for proper input and output voltagesto and from the control.
t4.Finally, place the small black dot includedwith the kit on the serialplate. This will help identify the product has been upgraded. Placethe DarkBlue Dot Here;
