LTC Jonathan L. Adams - 170 MP BN CO - Georgia Army National Guard   March 2014

Reason:  Responding  to  the  call  of  the  Georgia  Governor  and  rendering  aid,  assistance  and  support  resulting  in  the  saving   of  property  and  reduction  of  damages  or  suffering  during  Operation  Patriot  Snowball     Story:  During  the  snowstorm  earlier  this  year  I  was  called  to  active  duty.  While  at  the  Decatur  armory  I  noticed  that   there  was  a  serious  problem  tracking  assists  in  the  field.  So  I  developed  and  deployed  a  simple  web  based  GIS  that   tracked  vehicles,  missions,  supply  points,  etc.  This  gave  the  Battle  Captain  a  quick  and  easy  way  to  see  who/what  could   be  deployed  where.  Before  that,  trucks  would  come  all  the  way  back  to  base  to  be  re-‐tasked,  sometimes  driving  by   where  they  would  be  sent  back  out  to.  The  system  had  to  be  simple  to  use  and  rock  solid,  as  soldiers  had  to  use  it  with   only  a  5min  crash  course.
