Scope:

‘e-permits’ supports the multi-tenanted offices, shopping malls, infrastructure and press office

‘e-permits’ within office and retail estate ‘e-permits’: Replaces the conventional method of managing hazardous work associated with facilities management and engineering work helping companies meet their Duty of Care to employees, protecting the general public, the environment and reputation. Many of the background checks on contractor competence and service & location clashes are automated. e-permits then provides vital management information to workers and management, to help them plan and manage hazardous work and to make safer decisions. Background: The first application of ‘e-permits’ was at 40 Bank Street, Canary Wharf, a multi-tenanted building with considerable maintenance activity being undertaken by the landlord and fit-out work by the tenants, in a building with high churn rates. As a result they and their supply chain quickly became some of the heaviest and most experienced users of the ‘e-permits’ system. The Canary Wharf Retail team have to work with retail occupants/chains executing maintenance and project works in an area populated for long hours by the general public. ‘e-permits’ is an effective and simple solution to this management issue and providing complete visibility of work being undertaken and automatically checking the competence of contractors and the potential for clashes of activity. The Canary Wharf Press Office manages large numbers of applications for permits to photograph or film around Canary Wharf. The introduction of ‘e-permits’ to the Press Office brought efficiency, reducing time taken on checking and approving applications allowing the Press Office to focus attention on the complex outdoor activities of film crews and their interaction with the general public and security. The contract extensions continued with ‘e-permits’ being rolled out to more multi-tenanted buildings including the iconic Canary Wharf Tower – One Canada Square. BIM Readiness: Following discussions last year (2012) with the BIM team ‘e-permits’ is able to take Estate Asset information feed (to CoBie standards).
