Kickball Team 1. All participant teams must consist of ten (10) players. Eight (8) players are required to start a game. 2. No more than 6 men per team on the field at one time. 3. A team must always have a pitcher AND a catcher. Uniform 1. The following items are required uniform pieces: 2. Players must wear pants or shorts without belt loops, drawstrings, or pockets. 3. The following items are prohibited: a. Hats with an exposed hard bill. b. Cleats. c. Jewelry, including watches, rings, earrings, etc. Medical information tags are allowed a long as it is taped to the skin. d. The following items are allowed: e. Gloves. f. Knit or stocking cap, headband, rubber or cloth bands to control hair. Timing 1. Game start time is forfeit time. 2. Games will consist of 5 innings or team who is leading after 45 minutes General Rules and Scoring 1. One run is awarded when a runner touches home plate 2. A runner must touch home plate before the third out is made, except that no run can score when the third out is made during a force play situation, or when the kicker is put out before touching first base. 3. Captains are the only players permitted to talk to any referee. All pitching must be done by hand, though no restriction on style is enforced Bouncing is allowed The ball must be thrown between the designated “strike zone” marked by cones. Foul balls on two strikes will result in an out. 5. Foul balls may be caught for an out.

Kickball 6. All kicked balls must travel at least as three feet to be declared a fair ball. Any ball that does not travel past this mandate, the mound will be considered a foul ball and will be re-played. 7. Exception: defensive player fields a moving ball before it has travelled far enough. This will be considered live. 8. All fielders, besides the catcher and pitcher, must be out of the infield until the ball is kicked. 9. Kicks are any contact with the ball below the knee. Kicks above the knee will be declared a foul ball. 10. All kicks must occur behind or on home plate and no part of the kicker's plant foot may cross home plate until after the ball is kicked. 11. Any ball connected when the kicking player crosses home plate, the play will be declared a foul ball. 12. Base runners are not allowed to take leads or steal. 13. A tag-up is a requirement to retouch or stay on a base until a kicked then caught ball is first touched by a fielder. After a tag-up a runner may advance. A runner failing to tag-up as required is out. 14. Runners traveling from home plate may overrun first base, and may only be tagged out if actively attempting to advance to second base. 15. If a runner is tagged in the head or neck, it is not considered an out. 16. If a runner purposefully blocks a tag with the head or neck, they are out 17. Any rules not outlined here in follow the customary rules of baseball 18. The referee's decisions are final in matters pertaining to the game.

ALL REFEREE DECISIONS ARE FINAL The NYU Intramural Department reserves the right to override any of these rules should the situation call for it.
