From Farm to Table
On March 2nd, Kids’ Rock 6th 8th grade students toured the local Crow Vegetable Farms which is locally owned by Ricky and Claudia Crow and sons Brandon and Jason. The Crows welcomed students into greenhouses where they discovered planting and growing of crops. Students also explored where produce is cleaned and prepped for market. On March 3rd, students visited the Crows Main Fruit Market to learn how locally grown food is marketed. On March 4th, students visited the site of the Local Dish where the owner, Lindsay Goodson, helped students prepare nutritious foods using the fruits and vegetables from Crows Vegetable Farms. This experiential learning opportunity allowed students to explore the local food industry and potential careers as farmers, chefs, and business owners.
