Kinder Safari Day Camp 2017 Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium and Council Bluffs Community School District
Thank you for registering your child for Omaha’s Zoo & Aquarium/Council Bluffs Summer Kinder Safari Day Camp program. We are excited to have another fantastic summer full of enthusiastic kids and awesome zoo experiences. Please read this information carefully as it will help answer many common questions and ensure a “Zoo-rrific” experience! General Information Kinder Camp Hour/Transportation ● Day camp runs from 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. ● Your child will be picked up and dropped off at your home address and transported to and from the Henry Doorly Zoo. What Not to Bring ● Money, jewelry, toys Animal Contact ● For the safety of all, campers will not have direct contact with animals. ● Each camp will offer either a keeper interaction or an Animal Ambassador encounter. What is a typical day camp like? ● Each day camp is slightly different. Generally, each camp includes hands-on experiences with bio-facts (bones, pelts, etc.), science activities, an art or craft project, interactions with a zookeeper or Animal Ambassador, games, tours around the zoo, and a conservation message. Does my child need to wear their day camp shirt each day? ● Yes! The shirts are for fun, but also for safety on crowded zoo grounds. They help Day Camp Instructors quickly and easily identify campers. What to bring? ● A labeled water bottle everyday ● Comfortable shoes (No flip flops!) ● A labeled backpack Policies Absences ● If your child is going to be absent please call (402) 738-2010. Weather Cancellation Policy ● Day camps are held rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, it is at the discretion of the Education Department to end camp early or to cancel. Parents will be notified by phone of any changes. Photo Policy ● Omaha’s Zoo & Aquarium reserves the right to take photos of summer day camp participants for promotion.
