Kirkwood Soccer Club Kirkwood Soccer Club – Financial Assistance Program Guidelines/Application Financial assistance is available to assist those players who are not able to afford the total costs associated with playing soccer. Kirkwood Soccer Club has a limited fund available to help families who need financial assistance. Financial assistance will be considered on an individual basis and once the financial assistance funds are gone for a particular season, no more aid can be given. In order to spread the assistance as far as possible, we ask each family seeking aid to pay as much as they can afford. The Kirkwood Soccer Club Board is committed to maintaining low registration fees so that more children have the opportunity to play soccer. This commitment to low registration fees means that the number and amount of scholarships is limited.
The Board will consider many factors when evaluating eligibility for financial assistance. Please submit a paragraph briefly stating any relevant information. These circumstances may include, but are not limited to death, illness, loss of compensation or other changes in financial position.
Applications for financial assistance must be made by a player’s parent or guardian. Financial assistance applications will be held in confidence between the parent/guardian and the scholarship committee for Kirkwood Soccer Club. Requests for financial assistance must be submitted each year. Please note that the receipt of financial assistance in one season does not guarantee assistance in future seasons.
The expenses covered by scholarship are limited to registration, coaches’ fees, referee costs, field rental, insurance and club fees. Financial assistance does not cover any costs associated with uniforms or travel.
It is expected that a family receiving financial assistance is willing to volunteer personal hours to assist the club by helping to maintain fields, assisting at Club-sponsored tournaments, registration or other volunteer opportunities such as serving as a team parent. Please let us know if there are circumstances that would prevent family members from helping in this way.
Financial assistance to a player/family may be terminated if the financial situation is resolved, funds become unavailable, or if the player is deemed in conflict with the Club/Team requirements for player commitment or behavior.

Kirkwood Soccer Club How Does KSC Award Financial Aid? KSC uses the US Government Federal Poverty Guidelines (Department of Agriculture - Food and Nutrition Service - Child Nutrition Programs; Income Eligibility Guidelines - Effective July 1, 2014– June 30, 2015) for decisions on awarding Financial Aid.
1st priority for Awarding Financial Aid: Those players receiving free lunch benefits (or family incomes at 130% of poverty level or below) 2nd priority for Awarding Financial Aid: Those players receiving reduced lunch benefits (or family incomes at 185% of poverty level or below). 3rd priority for Awarding Financial Aid: Those families at 250% of poverty level. 4th priority for Awarding Financial Aid: Those families at 300% of poverty level. If financial aid money is still available to award, the club will consider Financial Aid Awards in this category. Financial Aid Awards in this category will only be partial.
How much Financial Aid is Awarded and What Does it Cover? Financial aid may or may not cover the entire club and team fees. Financial aid is available to cover KSC players’ registration, coaches’ fees, referee costs, field rental, insurance and club fees. Scholarships do not cover any costs associated with uniforms or travel. The maximum amount of financial aid a player may receive is $1300. Keep in mind that PARTIAL awards may be made. Families are then responsible for paying the additional club and team fees left after financial aid is awarded. When are Payments Due? Travel Players - Players awarded financial aid will have an extended payment plan for any remaining fees owed (the balance), and the balance must be paid by the family first before any financial assistance is credited to a player account. The schedule of payments is as follows: 1. Your Initial payment towards the balance is due by July 1st and five additional payments are due on August 1st , September 1st , October 1st , November 1st , and December 1st. All fees must be paid in full by December 1st of the travel year or you may lose your financial assistance. Please keep in mind the amount of Financial Aid money that can be awarded each year is limited and will, more than likely, run out during the initial months of a soccer seasonal year (June – August). Being awarded financial aid one year does not guarantee financial aid will be awarded in subsequent years.

Kirkwood Soccer Club How Do I Apply? A completed financial aid application for each player must be submitted before the deadline and contain all the items listed below: 1) A completed and signed Kirkwood Soccer Club Financial Aid Application, and 2) A copy of one of the supporting documents listed in the application Incomplete applications cannot be reviewed. Financial Aid Applications that are submitted after the posted deadline will be considered in the order in which they are received and on the basis of remaining financial aid funds. Financial Aid Deadlines and Important Dates 1. Applications must be postmarked by the posted deadlines to be eligible for financial aid. 2. Financial aid award letters will be mailed or emailed to Financial Aid recipients within 30 days of receipt of the financial aid packet. 3. The signed Acceptance letter and initial payment must be returned within 5 business days of receipt or the player’s roster spot and Financial Aid award may be awarded to another player. Soccer, like any other sport, requires commitment and dedication to become a good player. Soccer is also a team sport that requires active participation. Just being on a team roster will not make me a better player or better teammate. I can maximize my improvement as a soccer player and as a teammate by being an active and focused participant. I understand that if I do not live up the expectations required as a teammate, I may forfeit my scholarship and may not be able to apply for scholarships in the future. To this end, I agree to the following as a condition of my current and any future scholarships:
I agree to make my Kirkwood Team my primary soccer team above all other soccer teams. I will take responsibility for knowing about club and team activities and updates by reading team and club emails and checking team and club websites. I will be on-time and attend ALL practices, games and other team events and notifying my coach in a timely manner if I will be tardy or unable to make a practice, game, or meeting. I will attend ALL team league games (including Spring break weekend), tournaments (most on holiday weekends) and State Cup play (Weekends) that my teams participates in. I will communicate frequently with my coaches and listen to them as well. I will focus and work hard during all team events. I will practice my soccer skills and conditioning on my own. I will respect my teammates, referees, opposing players and coaches. I agree to abide by all club, league, tournament and other event codes of conduct

Kirkwood Soccer Club Parent obligation for receiving a financial scholarship. As a parent of a travel soccer player on scholarship with any Kirkwood Soccer Club team; I understand that if I do not live up the expectations required as a parent, I may forfeit my child’s scholarship and may not be able to apply for scholarships in the future. To this end, I agree to the following as a condition of my child’s current and any future scholarships:
I will fulfill the volunteer duties required of receiving a scholarship. This may include, but is not limited to, volunteering hours for Kirkwood-Sponsored tournaments, field clean-up or maintenance or other fundraising activities. I will be responsible for knowing about club and team activities and updates by reading team and club emails and checking team and club websites. I will be responsible for any costs associated with uniforms and travel to and from games or practices. I will ensure that my child’s Kirkwood Soccer team is his/her primary soccer team above all other soccer teams. I will ensure that my child attend and participate in all team meetings. I will ensure my player to be on-time and attend ALL practices, games and other team events. I will actively contact other parents on the team to arrange for my child to have a ride to practice or games if I am unable to provide such and either I or my player will notify my coach in a timely manner if my player will be tardy or unable to make a practice, game, or meeting. I will commit to my players attendance at ALL team league games (including Spring break weekend), tournaments (most on holiday weekends) and State Cup play (Weekends) that my teams participates in. Be encouraging, supportive, and affirmative in regard to my child’s play on the field. Familiarize myself with the Laws of the Games and respect officials and accept their decisions. Not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, player, or parent. Support the coach and the team and not interfere at any time with the duties and responsibilities of the coach. Accept the coach’s decisions (playing time, player position, tactics, etc.) and not be detrimental to a positive playing environment. Comply with the rules, policies, directions, and procedures of the team, administrators, and board members of the club as they apply to me.

Approval for KSC financial aid does not guarantee a right to continued participation. Applicants must re-apply each season.
