KNITTING CLASSES HOW TO READ YOUR KNITTING—This class is for the knitter who has gone through the basics and is ready to move forward in their knitting expertise. You will learn how to “read” your stitches to help you become confident in knowing what’s next, where did I leave off, how do I figure out what I did wrong? Understanding what each type of stitch looks like and how it partners with the next stitch and the last stitch is the key to unlocking a new confidence in your knitting skills. Prerequisites: For the advanced beginner knitter who knows how to cast on, knit, purl, increase, decrease, read basic knitting instructions and has completed a few projects. **NEW CLASS** JACOBUS MONKEY—Are you ready for some fun? Stop in the store to see this adorable stuffed primate. You’ll want to make one once you’ve had a peek. This will be a perfect project to make for those special little ones for the holidays or birthdays. You will get assistance with increases, short rows, picking up stitches, changing colors, and using double point needles. Get your holiday shopping done early by making this adorable guy for your favorite little ones. Prerequisites: For the intermediate knitter who knows how to cast on, knit, purl, increase, decrease, bind off, read basic pattern instructions and consistently work to gauge. BULKY MOEBIUS COWL—Here’s a quick project that you can accomplish in an evening, using bulky yarn. The Bulky Moebius Cowl knits up in a flash and works wonders in the cold winter months! Knit a short cowl to wrap around your neck or double it to wrap around your neck and over your ears. The Moebius cast on and knitting is pretty simple, once you get it started correctly. Join us for this one session wonder, and get started knitting up this colorful cowl for everyone. Prerequisites: For the intermediate knitter who knows how to cast on, knit, purl, work to a consistent gauge, and read basic knitting instructions. **NEW CLASS** SNOWFALL HAT—Ready to learn some fairisle colorwork? This is the perfect starter project for you. You will learn how to carry two colors around this beauty, while also learning how to use a chart for color placement. Janet will teach you how to move smoothly across each round while holding onto two yarns. The end result will be a beautiful hat ready for that first snowfall of the winter. This hat would also make a great holiday gift for your favorite guy or gal. ELIZABETH ZIMMERMAN’S BABY SURPRISE JACKET—Are you looking for a simple, yet satisfying project to make for a special baby? This design is pure genius, once you know the ins and outs of the pattern. You will learn the increases, decreases, buttonholes, and pick up stitches needed to successfully complete the project. This little gem is a hit at baby showers, and is very addictive-you’ll want to make one in every color! Prerequisites: For the intermediate knitter who knows how to long tail cast on, bind off, knit, purl, consistently work to gauge and read basic knitting instructions.

**NEW CLASS** KNOTTED CHAIN PONCHO by Ronnie Eldridge—Learn all the techniques needed to make this lovely poncho in one 2-hour class. You will make a small swatch in class. Making this swatch will teach you the I-cord cast on, the knot, and the bind off. Then you’ll be ready to complete the poncho on your own. Be sure to come in and pick out your color choice early for best selection. Prerequisites: For the intermediate knitter who knows how to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, increase, decrease, consistently work to gauge, and read basic pattern instructions. BEGINNING KNITTING—This two-week series is for the absolute beginner and those who need a refresher. The course will cover casting on, knit, purl, simple stitch patterns, increase, decrease, fixing simple mistakes and binding off. Our project will be a dishcloth out of cotton yarn. Teacher: Janet Gibson Thursday, Sept. 22 & 29, 5-7pm, $30 Monday, Oct. 10 & 17, 1-3pm, $30 BASIC CHRISTMAS STOCKING—Start a creative tradition using a basic Christmas stocking and add your own personal touches to make it extra special. This is a great opportunity to “dip your toe into socks”! You’ll learn how to do an afterthought heal with this class. There will be prerequisite homework. Prerequisites: For the advanced beginning knitter who knows how to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, and read basic pattern instructions. Teacher: Polly Rodberg Saturday, Sept. 24, 10am-12noon, $20 TOP-DOWN SOCK USING MAGIC LOOP -- Ready to learn magic loop? Want to learn how to make socks, too? This class will cover the basic parts of a classic top-down sock with heel flap and gusset. As an added bonus, you will also learn how to knit using the magic loop method. Students will complete a classic, well-fitting sock using sock (fingering) weight yarn and a circular needle. Prerequisites: For the intermediate knitter who knows how to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, consistently work to gauge, and read basic pattern instructions. IT’S ALL ABOUT THE YARN—Have you found the perfect pattern, but can’t find the yarn it calls for? Did you fall in love with some yarn, but don’t know what you can make with it? Did you make a hat that wouldn’t fit because your gauge was off? Here’s your chance to learn some of the answers to those questions and more. We’ll review yarn weights, fiber content, how to substitute yarns, gauge, yards vs. meters, reading yarn labels, testing dye lots, and much more. OOPS, I MADE A MISTAKE — Frustrated when you make a mistake because you don’t know what else to do but start over? Here’s a class just for you. Learn how to fix common mistakes like twisted stitches and dropped stitches. Learn how to "tink" and “frog”. Change a knit stitch to a purl stitch. Use a life-line to go back past your mistake. Prerequisites: Must have experience with knitting, purling. If you have something that needs fixing, feel free to bring it along. Teacher: Diane Jespersen Wednesday, Oct. 19, 6-8pm, $20

HELIX HAT—Ready to try some easy color work? Here’s the perfect way to start. We’ll use a color technique called Helix to create a three-color hat. Helix creates a “candy-cane” type striping effect. We’ll learn this easy color process in one twohour class. You can use this technique to create a stocking cap for an adult or a child. It’s quick, fun, and can be used to “whip up” some great gifts. Prerequisites: For the advanced beginner who knows how to cast on, knit, purl, increase, decrease, and work to a consistent gauge. Prior experience with circular knitting a definite plus! NEXT STEP KNITTING—Have you completed that Beginning Knitting class? Ready for the next step? This class is perfect for you! You’ve learned to cast on, knit, purl and bind off. In this class we’ll take your knitting to the next level. You’ll learn an additional, popular cast on, how to increase and decrease using multiple options, and how to rib. We’ll also touch on the importance of gauge, and talk about pattern reading. Prerequisites: For the beginner who has successfully completed a beginning knitting class. Teacher: Diane Jespersen Wednesday, Sept. 28, 6-8pm, $20 FROM RIGHT TO LEFT—LEARN TO KNIT CONTINENTAL— Have you always envied that person who whips through their projects and noticed that they hold the yarn in their LEFT hand instead of right? Are you ready to try it? This class is for proficient knitters who “throw” the yarn with their right hand, but want to knit faster and more ergonomically. This is a great skill for ribbed knitting as it is MUCH faster. Prerequisites: For the proficient knitter who is ready for a change! Teacher: Diane Jespersen Wednesday, Sept. 14, 3:30-5:30pm, $20 BRIOCHE KNITTING—Brioche knitting is a simple single– or multi-color technique that creates ridges and valleys, similar to K1P1 ribbing, but double-thick. The fabric created is reversible, making it perfect for scarves, shawls, and blankets for the upcoming cold months. In two classes, we will learn the technique of brioche knitting on a sample swatch, then get started on fingerless mittens, using this technique. Once you practice, brioche will be as simple as ribbing. Prerequisites: For the advanced knitter who knows how to long tail cast on, bind off, knit, purl, consistently work to gauge, knit in the round and read pattern instructions. CROCHET CLASSES

DIAGONAL STRIPE AFGHAN---You will love this afghan using stitches from 101 Crochet Stitch Patterns & Edgings. This 5-color beauty will be taught one block per class and then you’ll complete a second block at home. You’ll be sewing together the blocks as you go! The blocks will include some more advanced stitches from the book, so you’ll be adding to your stitch knowledge with each class. This KAL will be 2 times a month over 4 months to complete all 16 squares. Prerequisites: For the intermediate crocheter who has some experience with different stitches and can read crochet pattern instructions. BEGINNING CROCHET— Learn the basics of crochet while making a darling baby blanket in this two-week class. Great class for beginners and those needing a little refresher, perfect for the knitter who wants to learn crochet. The course will cover several basic crochet stitches. Payment must be received at time of registration. Classes have a minimum of 2 students and refunds are available up to 48 hours before the first class session. In fairness to the teachers and other students who have purchased their supplies, we are unable to make refunds after that time. Supplies are needed for all classes and a supply list will be furnished when you register. The class fee covers instruction only. You will receive a 10% discount on all supplies needed for the class.
