This will be the seventeenth joint Convocation of the colleges in the Saskatoon Theological Union: the College of Emmanuel and St. Chad (Anglican), Lutheran Theological Seminary, and St. Andrew’s College. Knock Knock! Surprise! April 8, 2018 @ 10:30 A.M. Thomas is the only disciple who is absent when the risen Jesus comes and blesses the disciples with the Holy Spirit on that first day of the Resurrection. He does not doubt Christ, he doubts his followers. He doubted those that gave witness to the risen Christ, because they showed no evidence of it (they had no enthusiasm!). Even after encountering Jesus, they had stayed locked in a room filled with fear for 8 more days. Is there any wonder that Thomas did not have confidence in their story! Do we still isolate our selves, locked in sanctuaries worship centres, ivory towers? How shall we celebrate this new life, and new love, forgiveness and peace with the world? How can we live our lives miraculously transformed by the resurrection. Core Value to this Sunday: Serve with Enthusiasm – love and forgive, these are the two commissions that Jesus gives his followers in the post resurrection encounters.
