Kord Ferguson Freshman Throws—Men’s Track and Field

Ottawa, KS

Recently: Competed for Team USA at the World Junior Championships in Oregon this August finishing ninth in the discus with a throw of 195’-4. Was the top high school Track and Field athlete in the nation and selected as the Gatorade Kansas Boy’s Track and Field Athlete of the year for 2014. What is your favorite part of WSU so far? I would have to say that the new dorms and cafeteria have been a huge hit with me so far, they are top of the line and I haven’t seen a nicer cafeteria than the one we have here! What are you planning on doing with your major and what are your career goals? My biggest goal/dream is to throw on the professional level; I want to compete at the world class level and hopefully make an Olympic team or two. After that, I plan on coaching and strength training so I am currently majoring in exercise science. I think this will help me for the future in that area. What was it like competing for Team USA at the World Junior Championship? That was an amazing experience and for sure the coolest thing I have ever done. It was amazing to have USA across my chest when I was competing and I think it just adds a level of respect for your country when you get to represent it on the international stage. What are you most looking forward to this year? Probably getting stronger and developing into a better thrower. I know that I have a long ways to go to reach my goals and I’m just really excited to start that process this year. What is your favorite movie? My favorite movie of all time is a really hard question for me to answer but I would have to say Rocky 4 is up there for sure, one of the best of all time!
