Lambda Chi Alpha
Iota-Alpha
September 2013
Waterdaze/Homecoming Preview Last month Iota-Alpha participated in Theta Chi and Alpha Gamma Delta’s annual philanthropy, Waterdaze. Although the team did not win, they represented well by placing first in two of the four events and placing second in the remaining events. Brothers Steven Albert, Austin Craft, Patrick Duong, Tyler Gray and Nick Wilkey were coached by Alpha Gamma Delta’s President Chelsea Phillips. The brothers of Iota-Alpha will pair back up with Phillips and the rest of her sisters October 7-12 for Ball State University’s homecoming week festivities. Events will include the homecoming bed races, the talent search and Air Jam.
Last year at homecoming with the assistance of Alpha Omicron Pi, the brothers were able to win both Crowd Favorites and the Best Greek Performers at Air Jam, as well as having three candidates on the homecoming court. The brothers look to keep this streak alive this coming year. We hope to see you all at the homecoming tailgate on October 12, 2013. The tailgate fields will open up at noon. If you plan on attending the tailgate, please contact High Beta Kevin Mullaney at
[email protected] or by phone at 219-713-8518.

2013 Sexual Assault Awareness Forum
Every year, Iota-Alpha hosts the Sexual Assault Awareness forum on Ball State University’s campus. This year, we will be having it on Wednesday October 2nd at 7pm.
We will have speakers from the Victims Advocate, The University Police Department, The Ball State Counseling Center, and a new addition to this year’s presentation is a speaker from Damsel in Defense.
This event will be taking place in the Student Center in Cardinal Halls B and C. At this event, we will be having various speakers from different groups and organizations on and off of Ball States Campus.
The goal of this event is to spread awareness to the community about the potential dangers on campus, how to protect oneself from these situations, and where one can get help if it is ever needed.

2013 Stead Leadership Conference
This past summer four of our active brothers were able to attend the 2013 Stead Leadership Seminar. The conference took place in Memphis,
TN at the University of Memphis on July 25-28. Brothers of Lambda Chi Alpha from all across the nation were in attendance. Over the four

days at Stead, brothers were able to attend both general fraternity sessions and specific workshops to learn everything from chapter operations to recruitment. One of our active brothers, John Renschler, was honored to serve on the International Ritual Team (IRT) that performed the ritual exemplification at the conference. The IRT was composed of both active and alumni brothers from all over the country. This experience gave brothers a new perspective on what it means to be a part of the Lambda Chi Alpha brotherhood, and how to improve their chapter in various ways. As Evan Ziebell stated, “This conference gave me a better respect and appreciation for all that Lambda Chi Alpha stands for. I realized just how proud I am to be a part of the Iota-Alpha chapter.” .
