EXT. BRIDGE. DAY. BEN (30), dishevelled and oddly-dressed, stands at the wall of a bridge, above a long, dangerous drop. He closes his eyes and inhales deeply - surrounded by countryside, he is all alone. He lifts a leg over the bridge wall and shifts his body over it, careful not to fall off. Tears well in his eyes. He looks down, full of fear. He bursts into tears. No.

BEN

He trembles as he moves back over the wall, onto the bridge. INT. LIVING ROOM. DAY. ROBERT and KATH, in their forties, sit on the sofa in a pleasantly-furnished family room. They drink wine and look through a picture album with tears in their eyes. The doorbell rings. Robert and Kath look at each other, eyes wide. Kath smiles. EXT. FRONT DOOR. DAY. Robert and Kath open the door, excited, but there is nobody there. Kath pokes her head out and looks around the empty street. Robert sees a note on the floor, with a message written on it. He picks it up and reads it, intrigued. His expression changes to one of horror. He puts a hand to his mouth and shows Kath the paper. EXT. DRIVEWAY. DAY. Robert rushes into the driver’s seat of a car, as Kath sits in the passenger seat. He starts it up and drives off, fast. EXT. HIGH STREET. DAY Kath looks out of the window as Robert drives the car through a busy main road. She sees a HOMELESS OLD MAN walk along the pavement in a large fur coat, and swig from a champagne bottle.

2. EXT. COUNTRY ROAD. DAY. Kath looks out of the window as Robert speeds down a country road. She sees two NAKED CAMPERS, who kiss and romp on the roadside. EXT. WOODLAND. DAY. The car skids to a halt at the edge of a wood and Robert springs out. He looks up, in wonder - handcrafted crescent moons and stars hang from tree branches, suspended by string. Kath gets out of the car as Robert looks at the note in his hand and sprints into the woods. She looks up at the moons and stars and runs after Robert. EXT. CLEARING. DAY. Kath runs out of the woods - and stops in her tracks. Robert kneels in front of her and clutches the half naked, muddy, dead body of AMY (25). He sobs, hysterically. Kath falls to the floor and bursts into tears. Robert brushes Amy’s hair out of her face as Kath takes off her jacket and covers Amy’s body with it. Ben emerges from behind a tree with his hands in the air Kath looks up at him shocked. Robert looks him in the eye, still clutching Amy. Ben drops to his knees and places his hands behind his head. BEN Please forgive me. Tears stream down his face as he stares at Amy’s body. Robert stares at Ben with pure hatred in his eyes. Kath looks at Ben teary eyed then looks down to Amy then up at the sky. She looks back to Ben whose lip trembles as he shakes his head. Kath walks over to him, drops to her knees and throws her arms around him. Ben looks shocked. His hands remain behind his head as he starts to sob and cry on Kath’s shoulder. Robert looks angry and confused. He looks around at the surroundings in shock, then back to Amy. He dries his tears and watches Kath and Ben cry. He closes his eyes and presses his forehead against Amy’s. The meteorite passes overhead in the sky.
