Langar Group, Sar Shkhaw r Valley. The Silesian H indu K ush Ex­ pedition was led by Jan Weigel and com posed of A. Bara, Z. Burczak, W. Betlejewski, Z. Bojarski, T. Dyczkowski, M. Kulak, M. K u raś, F. K öhler, K. Kwiatkowski, J. M ajchrowicz, K. O pyrchał, A. P ańkow, A. Popowicz, J. Sieńczak, T. M arek, J. W iesner, and Zitzman. They climbed in the D arrah-e-K henjan in the Salang region in the western H indu Kush from July 24 to August 5, including K ohe H afftanor ( 14,600 feet) and P 4790 (15,715 fee t). They were in the Sar Shkhaw r or L angar valley from A ugust 11 to Septem ber 19. Base Cam p was next to the glacier at 13,450 feet. They m ade the following ascents: Languta-i Barfi (22,398 feet; W ala Peak 179) up rock gullies to Cam p I in the col, up the ice face to the northw est ridge and Cam p II, up the ice ridge to the summit, by K ulak, K u raś on A ugust 23 and by Bara, Dyczkowski, M ajchrowicz, Popowicz on A ugust 25; Shah D har (21,490 feet*; W ala Peak 243) up north ridge w ith ice and two rock pitches, big cornices, nieves penitentes, a long way, by K öhler, O pyrchał , Sieńczak on August 25; L angar Zom, M ain Peak (23,196 feet; W ala Peak 190) by K u raś and Popowicz on Septem ber 10 and by Burczak, Köhler, Pankow, W eigel on Septem ber 15; L angar Zom, South Peak (22,474 feet; W ala Peak 191) by D yczkow ­ ski, Sienczak on Septem ber 10, Langar Zom, Southeast Peak or H ind (23,166 feet; W ala Peak 192) by Kwiatkowski, M ajchrowicz on Septem ­ ber 13; up side glacier and rock couloir from south to Cam p I in the col, up hanging glacier to Cam p II to summ it of W ala Peak 240 (20,243 feet) and over north ridge to glacier basin.
