Late Spring Courses Master of Agricultural Education Cal Poly- San Luis Obispo is pleased once again to be offering three-week “late spring” courses for teachers seeking a Masters of Agricultural Education degree, an Ag Specialist teaching credential, or desiring to earn units to count for pay scale advancements. Registration for these courses will be open soon. All of the courses are scheduled to begin on Monday, June 13, 2016. Meeting days are as follows: June 13-17, and June 27 to July 1. Classes meet three hours each day. Please note that classes will not meet during the CATA Summer Conference so that students can participate in the conference. Any deviations from this schedule are at the discretion of the instructor.
If you are planning to attend the three-week courses, you may wish to register as soon as registration opens because some of the courses may fill up. It is very important to register by May 27th in order that the minimum number of students for the courses to be offered are met. The cost per unit is $299. This equates to $897 per 3-week course. NOTE: IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY ON AN “EDUCATIONAL LEAVE” FROM CAL POLY, YOU WILL NEED TO RETURN TO REGULAR STATUS BEFORE YOU CAN REGISTER FOR THE THREE-WEEK COURSES. Graduate Seminar in Animal Science, 3 units - Veterinary Science Practices Dr. Jennifer Staniec,
[email protected] This seminar has two primary purposes. First, it will provide a hands on experience for developing routine technical skills within the veterinary sciences. Course subject matter will include sessions on clinical tasks such as bandaging labs, vaccine protocols and administration, restraint techniques for a wide range of animals, specimen collection, basic lab skills and administration of medical treatment. Animal biology focusing on anatomy and physiology will be addressed where appropriate. Secondly, the course will focus on applying learned skills to practical methods for teaching instruction of veterinary science material. Participants will be expected to collaborate with peers on personal teaching lessons through demonstrations with the intent to address problematic learning exercises and refine current procedures as it applies to their educational careers.
