LAWTON BUSINESS WOMEN’S CLUB SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA The Lawton Business Women’s Club gives a scholarship to a young woman attending Cameron University or Great Plains Technology Center and who has graduated from a regional high school. This Scholarship is to be used to defray the actual scholastic expenses such as tuition, books, lab fees, etc.
CRITERIA AND ELIGIBILITY 1. Applicant is eligible to receive $1,000.00 per semester when enrolled full time, carrying a minimum of 12 hours or $400.00 per semester when enrolled part-time, carrying a minimum of 6 hours. 2. Applicant must complete the Lawton Business Women’s scholarship application which should include a letter of recommendation. This recommendation should represent areas of employment, education or church. The applicant must submit a high school or current college transcript as well as proof of enrollment for the semester for which the scholarship will be applied. 3. Funds will not be provided for a semester in which the student will complete more than undergraduate hours. 4. Cumulative grade point must be 2.5 or higher at the time of application and during the term of the scholarship. Should a recipient’s cumulative grade point drop below 2.5 during the term of the scholarship, funding will be discontinued for the subsequent semester. 5. A student who has dropped out during the semester in which a scholarship was received will not be reconsidered for a scholarship the next semester and will be required to refund the scholarship. 6. A successful recipient may be considered for an additional year, but must reapply and be considered along with other applicants. For reapplication the recipient will be required to submit a completed application, an up-to-date transcript, and proof of enrollment. 7. Recipient will be required to submit an up-to-date transcript at the close of each semester to verify the minimum hours and cumulative grade point requirements. Should either requirement not be met funding will be withdrawn. 8. In accepting the scholarship, the recipient will be given the opportunity to participate in the Lawton Business Women’s club fashion show and other LBW projects/activities.
To be eligible for consideration for this scholarship, a student should complete the requirements outlined above. This application should be mailed or delivered to the current Club Scholarship Chairman (listed at the bottom of the application). The application should be received no later than June 15 for the Fall Semester and November 15 for the Spring Semester.
