Lay-Up Youth Basketball Volunteer: Program Coordinator Lay-Up Youth Basketball Lay-Up Youth Basketball Scholarship (Lay-Up) was founded in September 2013 to provide free, organized, high quality basketball programs to youth from low-income neighbourhoods in Toronto. The program combines basketball skills building with a ‘social curriculum’ aimed at developing off the court life skills. Through a partnership with Basketball World Toronto, Lay-Up is able to provide participants with programs that truly improve their skills and are fun. Lay-Up differentiates itself from other free programming in that we are actually providing children with an equal opportunity to their higher income counterparts, and one that will have a meaningful impact on their lives. In our first two years of operations, Lay-Up has raised approximately $100,000 to send roughly 400 children to our programs. Please refer to Lay-Up’s website (www.lybs.ca) & Facebook page (facebook.com/LayUpBasketballScholarship) for more details.
