Cut “A” from block, place “A” and “B” right sides together, stitch and press.
Note: If you need to cut the block to a Left Face “A”: Remember, Left Face pieces are cut from the wrong side of the fabric. Turn the block over and cut from the wrong side.

Understanding The Lazy Angle® Ruler
Cutting For “B” 1. Find marks for 4 ½" “B” on angled edge of ruler. Place ruler on top of fabric, match ruler marks to fabric edges. Cut along angled edge of ruler. This makes one “B” piece.
There are two sets of “A” and “B” cutting guides, ranging in size from 1 ½" to 6 ½" on the ruler. Each size is shown below in a different color. The ¼" seam allowance is included on the ruler. As you can see, both shapes are on both edges.

Understanding The Pieces
Lazy Angle® blocks are composed of two pieces: “A” and “B”. If the bottom point of the piece faces Right, it’s a “Right Facing” piece. If the bottom point of the piece faces Left, it’s a “Left Facing”

¼" seam allowance is included on the pieces.

2. Flip ruler to the back side. Find marks on the back of the ruler for 4 ½" “B” on square edge of ruler. Place ruler on top of fabric, match ruler marks to fabric edges. Cut along square edge of ruler. This makes another “B” piece. ½1

Prepare The Fabric Strips Cut fabric strips ½" wider than desired finished block size. Example: Cut 4 ½" strips for 4" finished block size. Cut 6 ½" strips for 6" finished block size. Markings on the ruler are for 1 ½" to 6 ½" strips. To Cut Right Face Pieces Only: Use a single layer of fabric, Right Side up. To Cut Left Face Pieces Only: Use a single layer of fabric, Wrong Side Up. To Cut Mirror Image Pieces: A right face and left face piece at the same time, fold your fabric in half, wrong sides together, keep fold to the right.
Cutting Illustrations are the same for Right Face, Left Face and Mirror Image cuts. Cutting example is for a 4 ½" strip. Stack 2 - 4 layers for cutting if you like. Lefties - Arrange fabric and ruler as shown, then rotate 180 degrees and cut. square the edge
Cutting For “A”
1. Find marks for 4 ½" “A” on angled edge of ruler. Place ruler on top of fabric, match ruler marks to fabric edges. Cut along angled edge of ruler. This makes one “A” piece. match 4 ½" marks 6½

Piecing
“A”
Close up
“B”
“B” “A”
Right face “A” and “B”
“Bow Tie”
Lay the two pieces next to each other so they form a block as shown. This will ensure you have the correct pieces needed to complete a block. Left face piecing is a mirror image of the example above. Align the Pieces: Place pieces right sides together, matching lazy angle edges. The “B” piece will stick out over the top and bottom edges of the “A” piece. The bottom point will form a “Bow Tie” with the point of the “A” piece. When the two points of the “Bow Tie” are the same size, sew using a ¼" seam allowance. Open and press. Top edges of “A” and “B” should meet. If not, shift the “B” piece up or down, adjusting the amount of the Bow Tie overlap until top edges meet.
Cutting Chart
Cutting charts are based on strips cut from 40" wide fabric. The number of pieces listed is the same for left or right face pieces. Cut for one piece, rotate or flip the ruler, then cut again. Cut any combination of “A” and “B” pieces from the same strip.
