LEADING ON THE EDGE Building Sustainable Youth Ministries 2014 Louisiana Youth Worker Conference Friday, December 5th – Saturday, December 6th Wesley Retreat Center – Woodworth LA
Purpose
Cost
The Louisiana Youth Worker Conference is a 2 day event for paid and unpaid servants who work with youth from across the Louisiana Conference. The Conference will offer resources, training and tools to strengthen the capacity of youth ministries based on the ‘Sustainable Youth Ministry’ model developed by Mark DeVries. Participants may also be clergy, laity and senior high youth (ages 16-18 years of age). Groups are encouraged.
$75 Per Person (Early Bird Thru November 3rd) $100 Per Person (Regular Rate Deadline November 21st)
The Louisiana YWC will have specific ministry tracks: New Youth Ministry Starts, Small and Urban Churches and Large Churches. Auxiliary sessions will be offered by ministry leaders from across the Conference.

Dave Sippel brings 20 years of experience with local church youth ministry as well as involvement with other areas such as summer camps and college ministry. Dave is a Vice President with Ministry Architects in Nashville providing ministry assessment, strategic vision and program curriculum for churches. He has consulted with churches from 31 different states representing 10 different denominations. His work has included supporting churches in the United States, Canada, Northern Ireland and the Philippines.
Sustainable Youth Ministry by Mark DeVries gives a framework to shape your Youth Ministry to be built to survive and last for the long haul. DeVries pinpoints problems that cause division and burnout and dispels strongly held myths. He then provides the practical tools and structures pastors and church leaders need to lay a strong foundation for ministry so that it isn't built on a person or the latest, greatest student ministry trend.

Urban and Small Church Workshop will discuss best practices for small youth groups and youth groups in urban communities. Churches will learn how to engage the community and tap into its needs to build and grow youth ministries in setting primarily run by volunteers. Large Church Large churches will address specific needs, opportunities and challenges of faith communities with youth ministries serving over 50 youth.
