GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS MAKING THE BASIC WREATH The photos show contrasting colors for clarity.
To make the basic deco mesh wreath, you’ll need a 16" dia. wire wreath frame, a 10 yard roll of 21" wide mesh, matching color chenille stems, and a pair of scissors (photo 1).

Twist 22 chenille stems around the wreath form, alternating between the inner and outer rings and evenly spacing the stems on the rings (photo 2).

To make measuring easier, mark the work surface with tape pieces 16" apart. Gather the mesh end (photo 3).
Measure 16" from the secured area and gather, keeping the gathers as straight as possible (photos 5-6).

Here’s the finished basic deco mesh wreath (photo 9). Fluff and arrange the loops until the wreath is circular and has a pretty shape.
Continue measuring, gathering, and securing loops until there are only 6 chenille stems without mesh loops (photo 8). Check to make sure you have enough mesh for the remaining 6 loops. If there is not enough for 16" loops, adjust the last 6 loops to be a bit smaller. Once the wreath is finished, you won’t be able to tell the difference.

MAKING SINGLE, DOUBLE, & QUAD LOOPS The photos show contrasting colors for clarity.
Loops are an excellent accent to the mesh wreath. Wire-edged ribbon and 51/2"w deco mesh make beautiful loops (photo 10).
10
For a double loop, repeat the measuring and gathering to make the second loop. Trim the loops from the roll. Secure both loops with a chenille stem (photo 13).
13
To make the first loop, gather the ends, measure the loop size as specified in the project instructions, and gather (photo 11).
11
Attach the loop to the wreath by twisting the loop stem to a wreath stem (photo 14).
14
Bring the gathers together (photo 12). If you are making a single loop, secure the loop with a chenille stem and trim from the roll.
12 For a Quad Loop, measure out 4 loops before trimming and securing with a chenille stem. You can leave long tails on the loop ends or even leave just one tail. Trim the mesh or ribbon ends as desired.

MAKING A GIANT DECO MESH BOW The photos show contrasting colors for clarity. To make a giant deco mesh bow, fold the mesh in half to make a double layer. Leaving an 18" tail, gather the mesh end. Measure the loop size (16") and gather the mesh (photos 15-16).
15
Bring the gathers together for the first loop (photo 17).

Measure out 16" again and gather for the second loop. Secure both loops with a chenille stem. Trim the bow from the mesh roll, leaving an 18" tail (photo 18).

MAKING A RIBBON BOW Wire-edged ribbon comes in many sizes, colors, and styles. Your wreath will look great with 1 or 2 ribbon bows; look for ribbons that coordinate, but are different sizes and have different patterns or colors (photo 19). When stacking bows, make and attach each bow separately.
Bring the gathers together to form the first loop (photo 21).
21
19
Twist the ribbon to the right side for the next loop (photo 22). Using the measurements specified in the project instructions, leave a tail, measure out the loop size (photo 20) and gather both points.

Measure out the loop size again (photo 23) and gather. Bring the gathers together for the second loop.
23
Wrap an 18-gauge wire length around the bow and tighten (photo 26). Wrap a chenille stem over the wire (photo 27) and attach to a stem on the wreath. Fluff and arrange the loops and streamers, trimming the ends as desired.
26
Twist the ribbon to the right side for the next loop (photo 24).
24 twist
27
Continue to make loops until the bow has 6–12 loops. Try not to let the loops stack on top of one another. They should be in a circular shape (photo 25). Trim the ribbon, leaving the same length tail as at the beginning.

ADDITIONAL TIPS The photos show contrasting colors for clarity.
To make a longer chenille stem, just twist the ends together for 1"–2" (photo 28).
28
When adding decorative items to the wreath, try to use the existing hanger. On the Easter cross, we wrapped a chenille stem around the wire cross bar on the back (photo 30).
30
To make a floral bouquet, gather the stems and securely wrap with 18-gauge wire (photo 29). Use chenille stems to cover the wire and to secure the bouquet to the wreath frame.
29
Clip the stems from individual flowers (photo 31); then, hot glue the flower to the mesh wreath. Large, heavy flowers may also need to be secured with chenille stems.
31
It’s a good idea to use shatter-proof ornaments on the wreath.
