Job Purpose: To provide Learning and development opportunities to clients and staff of CAIS and to provide training opportunities to external commercial customers as directed by the L&D Manager.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
To encourage and ensure a throughput of referrals from partner organisations and departments of CAIS
To engage, motivate and retain the involvement of programme participants.
To provide details of learner achievements and contribute to monthly internal verification processes.
Regular duties will include delivering accredited and non accredited training to meet the needs of the business.
To support the CAIS digital literacy agenda through staff and participant training.
The provision of education and training to learners within CAIS and to external companies.

To participate in Area collective events as directed by the L&D Manager.
To undertake suitable training and development as required.
To support and encourage volunteers.
General:
To attend regularly monthly supervision as required by the L&D Manager. To engage in operational supervision as required.
To comply with administrative, publicity and monitoring requirements as detailed by the L&D Manager.
To complete accurate and timely recording as required, and engage in team work events as notified in advance.
To deputise for any Development Officer in the Area as required, if directed to do so by the L&D Manager.
To undertake any other activities reasonably requested by the L&D Manager.
Professional:
To participate in the CAIS continuous learning , development and appraisal process To maintain professional accreditation as appropriate to role To attend training provided, organised or arranged by CAIS To operate within and observe CAIS policies and procedures as amended and updated

Person Specification for Learning & Development Officer Essential Qualifications:
Possess a PGCE
Experience:
Experience of working with offenders and/or those from a disadvantaged background
Skills:
Ability to engage with hard to reach participants who have a range of needs Ability to communicate effectively with BME communities and encourage positive engagement Ability to initiate and maintain effective communication and working relationships with a relevant range of people and agencies
Knowledge:
Understanding of the criminal justice system Awareness of the issues of confidentiality arising from the role
Personal Qualities:
Flexible Approachable Enjoy working with other people and have an enthusiastic passion for helping others achieve their
Desirable Digital literacy practitioner or be prepared to work towards the qualification. Level 2 in Accrediting work based units or be prepared to work towards the qualification. Experience of multi agency work
Welsh speaker An understanding of other key professionals and how to contact them for consultation or referral Digital training skills – use of digital technologies in the learning and development environment e.g. the use of ipads and digital applications that support and enhance the learning experience.
Knowledge of safe working practice appropriate to the work
