Compare with Is 52: 6 and Hosea 1: 9 the contrast is that in Isaiah we are told we will recognise God, while in Hosea we see God telling us we have failed to recognise Him. Rev 21: 3 does it match? Matches the Ex and other statements about God’s decision to adopt us. Gen 1: 31 Is “very good” used anywhere else in scripture?

Gen 3: 15b How can we understand this to be a promise of the Christ? The serpent is seen as a representative of Satan, is to have his head bruised, that is defeated, while human descendants will have their heal bruised. That is we will have superficial damage done, and the representative descendant is Jesus.

The Law was part of the covenant with Israel. What did it entail? The law was to be done in the Promised Land – so that they would fear God and keep all His statutes and commandments.

Stage 7 = Kings 9. Who was the first and always king of Israel? (1 Sam 8: 7) God was and is the King. 10. Read 1 Sam 12: 13 – 14. What was the role of the king of Israel? He needs to follow God. Stage 8 = Exile 11. Read Ps 137. What is the mood in the song? Why was it so hard to sing? Sombre, it is hard to sing in captivity. Stage 9 = The Prophets 12. Read Jer 31: 31 -33. What was the role of the Prophets? To speak for God, in this case to proclaim the new covenant that was to come and a new relationship with God.

Day 4

Stages 10, 11, 12

Stage 10 = Life of Jesus 13. Read Luke 2: 11 and Mark 1: 14-15. God was keeping His pledge in sending Jesus. How did He fulfil the promise?

He sent Jesus to fulfil it. The promise of God. Stage 11 = Death of Jesus 14. Read Rom 5: 6-8. What phrase in these verses sticks out to you the most? E.g. Christ died for the ungodly. Stage 12 = Resurrection of Jesus 15. Read 1 Cor 15: 3-4. What is most important thing according to Paul? Christ died and was raised – there were many witnesses of these things. Also ‘as recorded in scripture’.

Day 5

Stages 13, 14, 15

Stage 13 = Pentecost 16. The story of Pentecost is found in Acts 2. How does Paul summarise the event in 1 Cor 2: 12? The spirit came that we might understand, He came from God. Stage 14 = Return of Jesus 17. Read 2 Thes 1: 8-10. What will happen when Jesus returns? The saints will be glorified and others will be destroyed. Stage 15 = New Creation 18. Read Rev 21: 3-4. What changes in the New Creation? God will dwell with mankind and there will be no more sorrow or pain.

Day 6 19. Write a prayer which praises God’s plan for His Creation.
