Dear Parent/Carer, I thought I would take this opportunity to remind you about some of the changes in the new academic year 2016-2017. As you are aware, Cockshut Hill College will become Cockshut Hill School on 1st September 2016 when it becomes an academy in the Ninestiles Academy Trust. As a result of this important development we made some important changes which we have made you and the students aware of over the last two terms: • The new uniform As you start to think about replenishing school uniform for September we would remind you that the uniform has changed. Students have been involved in the changes we have made and were informed of the finalised designs in a number of assemblies. The new uniform has a new badge – an update of an older badge which reflects the proud history of Cockshut Hill – and other design features allows us to make the most of our House system colours in the ties and pin badges. We are very happy with the result. If you require further details please read the New Uniform information booklet which can be found on our website. (Midland Schoolwear in Acocks Green are the schools prefered supplier.) • Term Dates 2015-2016 We have confirmed the term dates for the next academic year. They largely reflect the LA term dates but also include the INSET dates which have been agreed across the Ninestiles Academy Trust. We are currently working on an Academic Calendar which will give parents a handy term-by-term overview of school events next year. It will be issued to students on their return in September.

• The School Day Cockshut Hill has run a two week timetable for a number of years and the footprint of the school day ie. an 8.40am start and 3.00pm finish will remain the same with a slight amendment. From September 2016 school will close at 2pm on the Friday of week 2 only. This will bring us into line with the other Trust secondary schools and will enable us to have greater collaboration in curriculums and teaching and learning. • Building Work The remainder of this term and the holidays will see some physical changes taking place at Cockshut Hill. We will endeavour to ensure that we minimise the impact on students whilst they are on site. •
