Linda Sarna, PhD, RN, FAAN Linda Sarna, PhD, RN, FAAN, an internationally recognized scholar in promoting the role of nursing in tobacco control and oncology research, has been appointed dean of the UCLA School of Nursing. Dr. Sarna has served as interim dean of the nursing school since March 2015 and acting dean from July 2014 to March 2015. Having earned a BA and MS in nursing from UCLA, she is the first alumna to serve in this position. As the principal investigator for theTobacco Free Nurses initiative, she initiated the first nationwide program in the country to help nurses quit smoking. Dr. Sarna was inducted into the Academy in 1994.
