Florentino Perez, Chief of Police “Protecting Linden-Kildare’s Most Valuable Asset”
Halloween is just around the corner, and it’s important to be safe with our Trick-or-Treater’s. Following some guidelines provided will help in preventing incidents from occurring:
Children should avoid trick-or-treating alone. Walk in groups or with a trusted adult. All treats should be examined for by adults for possible choking hazards and tampering before given to children. Utilizing a flashlight while trick-or-treating can help you and others see you. Always walk and don’t run from house to house. Always test make-up in small area first. Remove it before bedtime to prevent possible skin and eye irritation. Walk on sidewalks whenever possible, or on the far edge of the road facing traffic to stay safe. Wear well-fitting masks, costumes, and shoes to avoid blocked vision, trips, and falls. Review with children how to call 9-1-1 (or their local emergency number) if they ever have an emergency or become lost. Plan costumes that are bright and reflective. Consider adding reflective tape or striping to costumes and trick-or-treat bags for greater visibility.
