The Lindon City Police Department is now accepting applications for the full time position of Records Clerk. NATURE OF THE WORK An incumbent in this position assists the Police Department in the functions of the Police Records and Reception Office. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Operates Reception Desk, receives and handles telephone calls and deals with the general public. Reviews and processes police reports and criminal cases for prosecution and permanent record keeping. Duties may include analyzing unit operating practices such as record keeping systems, forms control, and records management. Position works regularly with Citizens, Police Officers, Attorney’s Offices and Court personnel regarding records provision and dissemination. Performs Victim Advocacy Referrals and assists in Emergency Management coordination. Reviews and answers correspondence; may assist in preparation of budget needs and annual reports of organization; does general problem solving; performs other related duties. May in absence of correct gender personnel, be required to perform supervised gender specific physical searches of detainees and their persons. KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS Knowledge of: Office management principles, methods, and techniques; Police Report writing; Knowledge of Spillman Public Safety Record Management System strongly Preferred. General office layout and efficiency methods; Computer software including spreadsheets. Ability to:

Interact effectively with the general public, officials, administrators, co-workers, and other Public Safety Agencies. Must demonstrate ability to maintain strict confidentiality of occurrences, records and incident files maintained with the RMS system.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT This position will operate in normal office surroundings. Occasional light lifting (estimated 20 lbs.) is possible. Requires light physical effort related to walking, standing, stooping, sitting and reaching. Elements of the job pose minimal degrees of hazard uncertainty common to the law enforcement environment. Position will be responsible for and trained to perform occasional searches of same gender prisoners in the police department holding room environment. This function will be performed in a safety controlled and supervised environment but may result in risk of exposure to physical injury through the actions of arrested persons and through potential exposure to various diseases including HIV, Hepatitis and other forms of disease.

Tasks may require a variety of non-physical demands related to working conditions, these demands include operating under time pressures, operating in a high stress, widely varied arena or workspace including personal and coworker safety concerns inherent to law enforcement. The ideal candidate will exhibit the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, accept the potential for irregular work schedule as situations occur and be able to perform tedious or exacting work.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

A standard senior high school diploma or equivalent. Requires a valid State of Utah driver license. Notary Certification, or the ability to gain certification within six months of hire.

Selected applicant must pass a drug screening test, criminal background check, and driver license check prior to official offer of employment.
