Linear st epping mot ors, now available from Applied Mot ion Product s, open new avenues for equipment designers who require high performance and excellent endurance in a very small linear act uat or package. The various designs use a propriet ary manufact uring process, which incorporat es engineering t hermoplast ics in t he rot or drive nut and a st ainless st eel lead screw. This allows t he mot or t o run much quiet er and more efficient ly, wit h an increase in durabilit y in comparison t o t he V-t hread and bronze nut configurat ion commonly used in ot her mot ors. Mot or life is 10 t imes t hat of t he bronze nut st yle, requires no maint enance, and is available at t he same cost . These hybrid st epping mot ors come in 5 different frame sizes: NEMA 8, 11, 14, 17, and 23. Available configurat ions include Capt ive, Noncapt ive and Ext ernal nut versions. For applicat ions requiring precise posit ioning, rapid mot ion and long life, t hese linear mot ors are ideal. Typical uses include X-Y t ables, medical devices, semiconduct or processing, t elecommunicat ion equipment as well as numerous ot her uses.
