Liquid Crystal Modules Are Designed For Extreme Outdoor Applications Cleveland, Ohio—Two new liquid crystal character module assemblies that are designed for critical outdoor applications are now available from LXD, Inc. The 2-Line X 16 Character Module Assembly and the 2-Line X 20 Character Module Assembly have an extended operating temperature range of -40ºC to +85ºC, and run on +5 Volts. The 2-Line X 16 Module is ideal for applications requiring standard display content with large characters. The 2-Line X 20 Module is ideal for applications requiring enhanced display content. Both have built-in digital control and interface drivers to suit a wide variety of specialized display needs. The modules have a versatile dot matrix format which handles a full range of alpha-numeric characters and symbols. Up to eight user programmable custom characters may be defined. Super Twisted Nematic (STN) technology provides excellent contrast and viewing angle. LED backlight enables viewing under low level lighting conditions. These two module assemblies are part of the LXD EXTREME™ line of high reliability, industrial strength LCDs and Modules. These products have a very wide temperature range and are used in instrumentation test equipment, automotive gas station pumps, parking meters, and other critical outdoor applications.
