In order to make an informed decision regarding whether or not you would be willing to make the sacrifices to be a member of the cheer team, please read the following information: 

Cheerleading is a sport at Lisle Senior High School. All cheerleaders must abide by the IHSA rules and Code of Conduct for athletics. In addition, all cheerleaders are required to comply with all Lisle High School rules and regulations. Academics are first in priority, and each cheerleader will be expected to upkeep grades to fulfill eligibility standards. A student must maintain an overall 2.5 grade point average for each quarter. To remain eligible during the mid-quarter, each week a student must be passing 75% of his/her classes (NO MORE THAN ONE FAILURE DURING WEEKLY ELIGIBILITY CHECK).

Due to the high visibility of cheerleaders, each cheerleader will be expected to maintain high standards for him/herself and those around him/her. He/She is always expected to portray a positive attitude and be an overall good citizen and role model for other students.

Cheerleading is very time consuming. During the fall and winter season, we will plan on having daily practices after school. We cheer at all home and away games for boy’s football and basketball. You may also be asked to attend tumbling sessions that are separate from regular practice. We will have additional practices during the month of November to learn our competition routines. We will participate in at least 6 competitions, which are held on Saturdays or Sundays in November, December, January, and February. Varsity will also participate in the IHSA State Sectional held in late January and then hopefully at the IHSA State Finals the following weekend. Although not mandatory, we will have practices, camp, and fundraisers that will take place during the summer months. We strongly encourage all team members to attend summer events.

Cheerleading can be an expensive sport. Cost includes purchasing of shoes, bodysuit for uniform, camp, camp clothes, jackets, Homecoming shirts, hair ribbons, competition hair supplies, Varsity – senior day T-Shirts and gifts, etc. We will have many fundraisers to help minimize these costs, and everyone is strongly encouraged to participate in order for it to be a success. We will attempt to limit our door-todoor sales fundraising by doing a Junior Cheer Camp and car washes, just to name a few. We have been very successful at limiting out of pocket expenses for families. Most families out of pocket expenses were less than $600.

We are willing to work out payment plans to help out families, but the athletes will not be allowed to participate in any camps or clinics without receiving payment first. The clothes/materials/ accessories ordered will also be held until payment has been received.

We wish you good luck at tryouts. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. Questions can be directed to Courtney Multhaupt, varsity cheerleading coach, 4938322 or [email protected].
