RESPOND (cont.)
Today is the sixth and final Sunday of our Lenten journey. Today is the start of an important week in the church year: Holy Week. Jesus knew what was going to happen those days and nights, but his disciples had no idea what was coming next. Let’s have review our Lent facts: How long is Lent? (40 days, not including Sundays) What is the color of Lent? (purple) What happens during Lent? (We learn about Jesus and we walk to the cross together.) Since we’ve traveled on this journey with our Lent Buddies, take a minute and make sure you know the name of everyone in your pew. (Be sure to introduce yourself to anyone new your pew during The Peace.) After service today or at home, talk about what you do when you aren’t sure what is coming next.
We are going to go on a parade today. Talk with your Pew Friends about why this parade was important.
HEAR (read the gospel) Listen closely as you or an adult reads this passage of the Gospel. Holy Week has many important events. The first day of Holy Week is Palm Sunday (today). It is a great day of celebration that we remember when we see a palm frond. The next important day of Holy Week is Maundy Thursday, and the paten (plate) and chalice (wine cup) remind us of this day. The last important day of Holy Week is Good Friday. The cross reminds us of this sad day. How many gospels are there? (four) What are the names of all the gospels? (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) What day was Jesus crucified? (Good Friday)
LAUNCH (close with prayer) Prayer and peace can help us be closer to God. Remember to talk with God and Jesus every day. Your yarn can remind you that God is with us when we are not sure of what is coming next in our lives.
PRAYER (hold hands with your prayer partners.)
Dear God, We have been on a long journey together during Lent. We don’t always know what’s coming next, And sometimes we’re anxious about that. Please be with us all the time, Especially when we don’t know what’s ahead. Amen.

RESPOND Jesus started Holy Week with a parade, and then went through the most difficult times in his life—eating a final meal with his friends, being betrayed by his friends, and dying on a cross like a criminal.
