Living Learning Community Resident Assistant Position LLC RA – additional job responsibilities         

Participate in advanced and specialized trainings and/or retreats on a per semester basis as scheduled by the Student Learning and Engagement Office or academic stakeholders. Participate in scheduled LLC stakeholder meetings approximately twice per semester. Meet biweekly with a Student Engagement Specialist. Lead staff efforts related to programming and community building around the LLC focus. Identify and collaborate with academic partners to further the mission of the LLC. Cultivate and support the LLC ambassador (student leader)/area government partnership. Participate in the recruitment of students and student staff to the LLC. Promote LLC engagement through collaborative events, role modeling, and campus involvement. Engage in professional development and stay current on issues related to the LLC focus.

Expectations for LLC RAs 

 

   

24 hour maximum turnaround on any communication from LLC Leadership Team or another LLC RA --Even if that means the best you can do is acknowledge that you received the message and share your next steps for completing the task Innovate! Be willing to think about programming and how we deliver LLC outcomes outside the box. Talk to your LLC grad about this—we will support you. Don’t be afraid to push back or “challenge” how we do things at UF, in Housing, in SLE. We’ll let you know if it’s something you need to just do, but we love hearing different ideas and perspectives. This is what keeps us moving forward! Attend and participate actively in stakeholder meetings, programs, and initiatives! Communicate challenges in attending any scheduled events ASAP, by email, to your grad and MC Every Gator Counts. If we see someone who doesn’t seem OK, we do something. Give us feedback, give us grace. We’re working hard to revamp and rebrand LLCs this year, and the 4 of us are all less than a year into to the roles we are in related to LLCs. We want your feedback and ideas, and we will likely at some point or another need some understanding that this year is going to be a growing year.

COMMIT! Commit to this job, the LLC student experience, and commit to going above and beyond these minimum job description items and base expectations. Help us deliver an exemplary LLC program! You are responsible for the information in your LLC’s Complete Guide. Attend regularly scheduled 1:1s and arrive prepared and on-time. Submit at minimum 2 OTMs each semester relating to the LLC. Keep your LLC-specific bulletin board informative and up-to-date throughout the semester Know the difference between rubber balls and glass balls

Support us/advocate for us in conflict, give mentor-like feedback Communication and availability Find ways for this group to stay connected and work together Understand the roles we all play – student, RA, LLC RA Send out list of expectations Communicate as far in advance as possible Allow creative freedom – room to fail or succeed Establish goals in first 1:1 and have regular check ins o Work together to create an LLC vision Concrete vision as a guide Support consistency and uniformity Clear idea of limits for creativity Allow grads to supervise Socials throughout the semester Monthly communication re: programs/events LLC-wide Support non-LLC students Sharing ideas between LLCs – communication among this group
