Local Churches Loads Semitrailers to Feed Area Families in Need GRANGER, Ind. - Ten semi-trucks of Food and Personal Care Items (PCI) through partnership with Feed the Children

(FTC) , Granger Community Church, South Gate Church and Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church will be distributed throughout Elkhart, Mishawaka, South Bend and Niles. Over 8,800 boxes of resources weighing more than 225,000 lbs total going to more than 30 neighborhoods, agencies and at-risk communities to serve approximately 4,400 families and households. About 5,000 volunteers are expected to meet at 9 a.m. at one of four locations: Granger Community Church’s campus on University Drive, Granger Community Church Elkhart Campus at the RV Hall of Fame in Elkhart, Southgate Church on South Michigan Street in South Bend and Mt. Carmel Missionary Church in South Bend to load boxes of groceries and personal care items onto trucks and semi-trailers for delivery to agencies and neighborhoods. The following organizations and neighborhood groups will help coordinate food distribution to individual families, in addition to receiving food for their own kitchens and pantries: 

In South Bend: Edison Gardens, Faith Baptist Church, Harbor Homes, La Casa De Amistad, Little Flower Catholic Church Food Pantry, Monroe Circle, Monroe Circle Community Center and Western Manor.



In Mishawaka: Barbee Creek, Oak Grove Mobile Home Park and River View 500.



In Elkhart: Rosedale Terrace, Helping Hands, Faith Mission, Church Community Services, Malcom Dr. & Moffat Lane, Washington Gardens, Center for Hope & Healing, God’s Kitchen, Bristol Food Pantry and various Elkhart Housing Authority sites.



In Plymouth: Plymouth Neighborhood Center.



In Niles: Gateway Plaza Apartments and St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

According to Mark Beeson, Granger’s Senior Pastor, “The annual Food Drop was timed this year for the tough months of January and February, when donations typically drop off and the need is greatest.” The food drop is part of Granger’s 2010 Christmas Offering, along with supporting ongoing efforts at their community center in downtown South Bend and efforts to improve the quality of life for villages in Tamil Nadu, India. Feed the Children is a nonprofit organization that provides assistance to children and families in need in the United States and internationally.
