Suspension / Expulsion Hearing Checklist ☐

1. Building administrator imposes a short-term suspension and informal hearing. Please site specific policy violated on the suspension form and fax to the office of Human Resources. Note: The hearing must be held not later than ten calendar days after the date of notice.



2. Call the district Human Resource office to schedule a long-term suspension/expulsion hearing.



3. Personally notify and mail parent/guardian and student the short-term suspension and the date for the proposed long-term suspension/expulsion hearing. ☐

Inform the parent/guardian and of student’s/parents’ right to attend the hearing.



Mail/deliver parent/guardian and student the suspension form and notice of the long-term suspension/expulsion hearing date/time.



Include a copy of Kansas Law 72-8901 through 72-8908. Include violated BOE Policies

4. Furnish parent/guardian and hearing committee members with: (You will need to make 9 copies of this packet) A. B. C. D. E. F. G. H. I. J.

Personal information Class schedule Record of attendance Record of discipline Record of grades, current status in classes/credits if applicable Previous year’s transcript Cumulative test scores Teacher information sheets Suspension and hearing notice sent to parent Kansas Laws 72-8901 – 72-8908Violated B.O.E.
