Lorrie McFadden Lifetime gardener Marketing & Trade Officer Lorrie says that gardening was her first hobby. As a small girl, she learned how to plant flower seeds and take geranium cuttings with her grandmother, and has continued to garden throughout her life. Involvement in numerous Boards and committees has given Lorrie the opportunity to experience how gardening, parks and related activities strengthen communities. She was on the Board of the Edmonton Horticultural Society (EHS) for several years as the Director in charge of promotions, and was on the committees responsible for organizing the EHS Centennial Bench Show and establishing the EHS Centennial Garden. Lorrie was also was part of the committee that established The Queen Garden in the community of Queen Mary Park, and is the Community League’s contact for Edmonton’s Front Yards in Bloom program. Her educational background is in Agriculture Economics and International Trade, and she currently works as a Senior Industry Development Officer with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. Lorrie has travelled in Canada and internationally for work and pleasure, and always enjoys visiting gardens on her travels. She looks forward to meeting people involved in CiB initiatives in communities across Alberta.
